Holiday Guest Room

Over the holidays we usually have many guests…

…..so it is appropriate that I also decorate that room in the spirit of the season.

I try to have a tree in every room in my house…including the guests rooms..

…..this tree is a gold metal tree decorated in the color scheme of the room.

I added a twig garland to the trunk of the tree…

…..and antique fishing floats to the base.

All of the ornaments and the tree were purchased after Christmas…love those sales!!

I love these porcelain “flower petal ornaments”..and the “new vintage” blue ornaments…

and there is always a bird or two in my trees…

And across the bed is the dresser…our very first dresser…just waiting to be painted..

…..one day….

Now….in case you are wondering how I attach these ornaments to the tree…

…..I will tell you my secret…I cut the wire portion of a wired ribbon…

……….they are like mini pipe cleaners!

There are no birds in the tree, but placed one at the base!

Bliss….a perfect, beautiful word…

You will see Byers Carolers throughout the house…

I placed my cotton grapevine wreath over the iron gate…

  5. Linda Miller says:

Looks beautiful, Shirley? When should we arrive?

  6. I loved staying in this room when it was not decorated for Christmas so I know it would be fabulous to stay there now. It is so pretty and now I know why your home must be one of the faves on your Neighborhood House Tour. Your;s would be hard to beat, I think. See you tonight at our party. :)

  9. Everything looks beautiful….the tree in the guestroom is so, so pretty. I love those colors together. You’re so talented!

  10. Shirley, this room is gorgeous! Have you changed it substantially? The blue and white is so comforting, and the touches of gold (brass) are perfect for the holidays. I love the porcelin flower petal ornaments with the vintage blue ornaments on the gold metal tree. All you have to do is add a few blue rams and footprints to the white acorn tree to make this the perfect Tarheel bedroom!

  11. “Bliss” is the perfect word for this room – it is blissfully beautiful! You never cease to amaze me, Shirley. You think of every little detail and execute them with perfection! See you at the party tonight!

  12. It is indeed beautiful and blissful! ;)

  14. It’s a good thing no guests are coming here over the holidays because they would be very disappointed not to find any holiday decor. You’ve done it up right and many of us are probably thinking we’d like to come to your house.

  15. Lots of sweet festive touches in there, Shirley! I don’t know how you find the time to do all that decorating! You’re the hostess with the mostess!

  16. Sandra White says:

Absolutely gorgeous and welcoming. Your guests will be right at home! And feel very pampered! Love that wall color. Do you mind sharing the color?

You did a beautiful job, Shirley! I love that scrolly metal tree you have! My son will be coming to stay in our guest room for Christmas. I haven’t done too much in there, but plan on adding a few things in when I’m in there making up the bed and cleaning the room before he arrives.

  18. Your guests will feel so pampered and welcome in the beautiful guest room with the amazing view from those doors and windows …love them! And all the decor is so pretty! You are a decorating Queen! :)

  19. It’s beautiful, Shirley! Your guests will feel pampered and well loved!
