A “Wintery” Mantel

I have been waiting for a friend to arrive before I take down my decorations….

She is special….so worth the wait!

…..but I went ahead and “dismantled” the living room mantel yesterday.

I hope that a picture of the Christmas Mantel will be OK for my guests…

It is amazing that it takes me more than a day to create the Christmas Mantel…

…..and less than an hour to take it all down!

I wanted a “wintery” look…

I was able to purchase these pretty faux branches with icicles at an after Christmas 75% off sale…:)

I added resin trees, two candlesticks with pinecone ornaments, and my Pottery Barn deer…

…..the Pottery Barn deer were last year’s items…and then added an evergreen garland.

I added some berries for a pop of color…

I love these trees….especially when they were $7.00 !! :)

And here is another tree that I purchased at a cute shop while in Franklin, NC..

…..we were there taking our granddaughter to ride the Polar Express Train….

……….the entire store was on sale!

Hey Kim…save those topiary forms..I figured out how we can make those trees!!

So thank you all for your visit…as you can see…

…..I still have my Christmas decorations up..they go down this weekend…

And pardon the different fonts on the pics…I am experimenting with the fonts…

…..as Flickr (Aviary) is now offering the new fonts…FINALLY!

And all the while I was taking these pics….

…..my granddaughter was playing the with new puppy and his brother …

……….our “neighbor dogs”…my hubby takes them out during the day for our neighbors…

He is the “Pied Piper” of kids and dogs…Aren’t they cute?..All of them!!..Especially the human!

Your wintery mantle is very pretty. My husband is out sunning himself on the deck before our trip to FL. BUT, we may get some of that winter stuff on Friday before we leave :-(. I am loving those trees. Wish I had you pick me up a couple…especially at $7!!

Your wintery mantel looks great, Shirley! I love those trees. How cute are those dogs! It looks like someone is having a great time hanging out with them!

  4. I LOVE the woodland theme that you do so well!

  5. I want the ice cycle garland. How cute! Love the winter look and it would make a great Christmas mantel, too so maybe your guests will think it is your Christmas mantel. Yes, I still have the forms. That is a very cute tree.

  6. Sandra White says:

Love your winter mantel. Those doggies and that grand daughter are so adorable. Always look forward to your posts and seeing what you do with your home!

  7. I love your winter mantel. The icy limbs are fantastic! Wish they had those in the stores here in Alabama. The pups and your granddaughter are precious.

  8. Your mantel looks gorgeous Shirley, I LOVE those branches!! Those little pups are so cute, I bet your granddaughter loves to be a little helper with them!

  9. Marty@A Stroll Thru Life says:

Oh so pretty. I love the trees and the icycles add such a great wintery touch. Very pretty. Hugs, marty

  10. Oh, Shirley, the icicles are so pretty! Your mantel is perfect for winter; and the pop of red from the berries is so pretty! Beautiful!

  11. The icicle branches and pop of red berries are perfect for your wintery mantel Shirley! Of course the pups and your granddaughter are adorable too :)

  12. Beautiful, Shirley! I have no doubt your friends will be in awe no matter what decor you present! I tried to find more icicles this year in the after-Christmas sales, but to no avail. I used them on my mantel this year dripping from the greenery, and I would have liked to have had more. The ones I have I bought a billion years ago, so I have no hope of ever finding those again. :-( Like snowflakes, though, no two icicles are exactly the same, so to mix two or three different styles would have been OK…IF they had been on sale!!! :-) Enjoy your company!!!

    Love it all!!!

  17. Your mantle is great!! Those icicles truly make it. And I totally get the “it takes hours to make and 30 minutes to take it down” sadness…kind of like the hours we cook for Thanksgiving and it gets devoured in 30 minutes. Those puppies and your granddaughter are precious!

  18. Those branches with the icicles are divine! Love your winter mantel, and that puppy is cute. I thought for a minute that you’d gotten a pup for Christmas or that you’d gotten your granddaughter one.

  19. Love the branches. I am going to make one of my own very soon. Dianntha

  20. Love those icicles on the branches….look so realistic! And those doggies are adorable. Are they dappled dachshunds? C U T E!

  37. Hi Shirley,

I’m finally getting back by to have another look at your post. This is a gorgeous wintery mantel (and fireplace). I love that tree on the hearth — isn’t Franklin the cutest little town? I’ve got to get back up there. :)

I really LOVE your faux branches with icicles and the pine garland; they’re perfect for a winter look. That might be all the winter you see in NC this year. I’m so sick of this kooky weather. I also love your white reindeer and the icy pinecone ornaments. Great job!

Your granddaughter is a doll, and the doggies are so cute. :) I hope you had a nice visit with your friends. Have a great week, Shirley!

    Denise

  38. Your winter decor on your mantel is so pretty! I love it. Love the greenery with the pinecones and icicles.

  39. Shirley – your icicles melt my heart! What a score – you’re the queen of discounted Christmas decorations! I’d rather spend my time with those cute little puppies and gorgeous granddaughter any day than undecorate Christmas – that can wait!
    Kelly

  40. Love those 75% off sales! The mantel looks great :)
    Stacy

  41. Everything looks fabulous! How did you ever get those icicles attached to your garland, that looks so great! I would love to know how you made your trees too, :)
Thanks for sharing your winter decor
    Jenna

  42. Shirley your winter mantle is beautiful! I love the icicle lights. I am also loving Charlie and Jax! Our little Savannah is 7 months now and we still fall in love those cute puppy eyes every day. We are excited to be almost potty trained which has been the toughest part of having a pup. Just trying to figure out how to get her to tell us instead of us telling her.

  43. Shirley..you have a new follower here and on FB! I love those icy branches and pinned them for you!
Hope you’ll have a moment to stop by my blog and take a look around :)
    JP

  44. LOVE your mantel…those trees are soo cool! But I’m really drooling over that gate on the wall! It’s gorgeous. :)
    Kelly

  45. Thanks for sharing Shirley. I can look at your mantel all day!
