I Love Topiaries….My HomeGoods Finds

What did we ever do without the great shopping experience of HomeGoods?!!!..

I always find some great treasures every time I visit…and this visit was no exception.

I love topiaries and when I entered the store, and saw this one…it quickly went into my cart!

Oh, I know..it’s faux…but it really looks real!..no watering, no dying of a dreaded plant disease!

I had purchased these small topiaries from HomeGoods a while ago…

Now I know this container may be a bit small for the large topiary…

…..I am “on the lookout” for a larger piece of pottery, maybe a confit jar…

“Confit”…hey I am practicing for my France trip with Kim and Kim…

Don’t you think this spiral topiary looks pretty real?…

The backdrop is a piece of “gingerbread trim” that I purchased from none other than Kristen!

One day we will get to hanging this beauty, but until then, it has a home in the dining room.

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood….

And speaking of beautiful…we had a great Easter with our traditional Easter Egg Hunt…

My granddaughter enjoyed it so much along with her little friends…We had a houseful on Easter….a good thing!

Ever So Clever, Ever So Pretty Friday, #4 {House Number Pillow}

Happy Friday everyone!

Today, I did an “easy peasy” creation that I took inspiration from the gals at 11 Magnolia Lane.

It is from a Christy’s front porch when she featured her home tour.

I do eventually want to do exactly what she did, but with some time constraints I did a similar version for today.

I bought a pillow from HomeGoods, and some house numbers from Lowe’s Home Improvement.

The numbers are secured by the small nails that were provided and hot glue.

Easy peasy!!!

I think this method is a great quick decorating project…with my busy week, this fit the bill!

However, when there is more time, you can make those wonderful pillows and stencil the numbers as Christy did.

This project cost about $16.00…

This little cutie has been my helper this week!

AND….at this time I would like to tell you something that is very exciting for “me”…:)

Spring Vignette

Well, the bunnies have chased away the birds ….

…..and the bunnies have playfully settled on the table.

You may have noticed that I relocated my chalkboard print…

…..it was on the shelf above the stove…but I had to look up to enjoy it.

So I hung it “on” the mirror!

And if you want to know where the bunnies chased the birds off to….

…..they landed on the mantel.

Keeping the other bunnies company.

I added my “flower pot bunnies” that I have had forever…

….along with the bunny egg cups.

I have collected White House Easter Eggs…from past Easter Egg Rolls…

Each year the design changes…and colors are varied…

I love collecting “White House” memorabilia…I guess it is the “patriot” in me…

My dad instilled in us kids, the “love of country”….I am such a “flag waver”…

And it is such a “wonderful world/country”….

I am hooked on Jennifer’s (Dear Lillie) chalkboard prints…

My hubby was wondering what I was doing with the command hook stuck to the mirror…

…..looking at me with that “I have two heads look”….

But after it was hung…he and I loved it!…I pass this table many times a day….

…..and it makes me smile!

The artful writing is just amazing….

I bought another bird’s nest (can’t have too many)..and another pair of faux boxwood topiary rounds…

…..the larger boxwood replaced the 2 small ones I had stacked on top of each other…

……….but then I decided to place one of the bunnies on top of the candlestick tucked into a bird’s nest.

I look for ways to embellish candlesticks other than using the typical candle…

This bunny has special meaning….

…..I was in Atlanta years ago…I dropped off my hubby at a client’s and I drove to one of my favorite shopping places.

It had a large TJ Maxx and Bombay Outlet and Calico Corners…

…..On that day, I noticed a change in the TJ Maxx…it was “TJ Maxx and More”…

When I entered the store, my jaw dropped…it was filled with the greatest home accessories…

…..I barely got through the store and the phone rang…”I’m ready, you can pick me up now!…uugghh!!..

Now that “store” is HomeGoods!…So basically the pretty ivory bunny was my first purchase from HomeGoods!

So here is the complete view of the Spring Vignette….

…..I am sure I will tweak it more in the next couple of weeks.

New Chair {Tuesday Morning} vs. New Jewelry

OK…call me crazy!!!

I went to HomeGoods last week to look for a new lamp for the sunroom.

There is a new Tuesday Morning next to HomeGoods now…I popped in to take a peek!

There it was…a chair that I have been looking for…

…..well not quite the chair…but one that would do…especially at that price.

I have been really wanting a chair from Hickory Chair, but a bit pricey for me now…

…..especially when I am saving for my France trip!!

So I pick up my phone and call the hubby…

Honey….there is this chair that I found….

…..conversation goes on….

……….well, he says, I was planning on spending about the same amount for a piece of jewelry for you…

………………..for Valentine’s Day…so you choose…what?..no brainer!!!….the chair!

And, he knows me all to well…he knew what my answer would be before he asked me!

So that night I take him to see the chair…to see what he is buying me for Valentine’s Day!

I discovered a few little “blips” on the chair and found another the next day…

I shopped the house and placed this pillow on the chair…

…..for now the colors are good…I am really looking for a pair of pillows to tie the two chairs together…

……….since they are not a “matching pair”…

I have finally put away all the Christmas decs … yes, I know…

…..and taken down the “winter mantel” and refreshed it with a cleaner look.

New Additions to the Sunroom

When I replaced the furniture that was in the craft area with my new Martha Stewart Craft Furniture…

….I had to find a place for the oak desk that we have had for years (and years).

The attic is full!

So I decided to paint it….

And it landed here!!

I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint/Country Grey with both clear and dark wax.

How do you like my “leg lifts”…?

The dark wax was applied on top of the clear…just wanted a bit of a “wash”

I bought a bird cage at the Winterthur Museum store in Alexandria, Virginia a long time ago…

I had it on a high ledge in the living room…unless you looked up..no one really noticed it.

It was on clearance!..a great deal and had to have it.

So as we were walking through the streets of Old Town Alexandria…

…..my hubby was carrying this beauty…and it was a long walk to the car! What a guy!

I wish I had another “mini urn” to flank the other side of the bird house door…

As you can see, I kept the desk top the original oak stain, along with the drawer.

I added a McCoy flower pot and filled it with my vintage garden tools, a topiary and PB candle and stand…

…..to complete the vignette.

I collected these garden tools over the years…

…..I love the one with the 79 cent marking

While on a shopping trip with Amy, Kristen (and her mom and daughter too), and Suzy….

…..I came upon these great bird plates…I love a bird motif!!

These plates are part of an Audubon Series by Alfred Meakin/England.

They were a bargain at $9.00 each.

The other side of the potting bench/cabinet proudly displays my watering can and seed packets from Mary..

…..just waiting for Spring to be planted. Hurry Spring!!

On the other side of the room has a table that is also a victim of the “domino effect”…

…..it was in one of the guest bathrooms. Had to place a bookshelf in that bathroom..

……….to accommodate the craft furniture.

I had a small lamp on the previous table in that spot…really needed a larger lamp…so off to HomeGoods I went.

And..I scored!!

After wheeling my cart through the several aisles in the lighting section…I turned the corner to the last aisle..

….the clearance aisle..and the angels sang…score!

Isn’t she lovely..for $22.00!!!

So with that savings, I can buy more stuff!!…but then again I am saving for my France trip with Kim and Kim…

And there’s a new pillow in town…bought this beauty at the Pottery Barn Outlet in Georgia…

This table used to be in-between the loveseat and chair…now it is beside the chair…

…..a convenient spot for my reading material and a great cup of tea.

The tea cup is Spode Rose Chintz…the napkin was a souvenir from my friend Linda…

…..she goes to France and I get napkins!…I will bring her back one this year!!

I love silver spoons and try to gather ones with my initial.

A few things added to the table to give it another look…

…..just doing some tweaking in the kitchen.

Adding a few things…shopping the house…like this tole tray that I bought at our neighborhood yard sale…
