It’s All In The Details

When we were building our home, I told my builder that I was all about the details.

What I meant about the details was that I wanted a great amount of trim work,

architectural details . . . without breaking the bank . . . was that possible?

What makes a house shine with its own piece of jewelry, is the details. . .

that scarf around your neck, the earrings that frame your face . . .

It’s all in the details.

Rooms I Rarely Photograph, the Kitchen and Laundry Room

When the photographer working with the real estate company sent me the photos

of what she took of the house, I realized that I rarely photograph several

rooms of the house. So today I will present some of the rooms that I rarely photograph,

the kitchen and the laundry room.

There will be more soon!

I think the reason why I do not photograph these rooms as often,

is that I am usually not happy with the lighting.

Lots of shadows bouncing all over, but I finally, finally,

ordered something that will come soon to alleviate that problem.

More Simply Stated Kitchen Decor

More kitchen items have been packed away and stored.

Even though there were some things on the kitchen counters

that were items of convenience, like an ironstone pitcher filled with wooden spoons,

and cooking utensils.  It was just one more item that I could place out of sight

and keep the counters with less stuff.  So today we have more simply stated kitchen decor.

Simple Kitchen Decor Using Ironstone

The kitchen has been de-cluttered and somewhat staged.

I know rule of thumb to stage a kitchen

is not to have many things on the counter to accomplish a clean, fresh look.

However, as I have stated before, I take it up a notch or two,

needing some pretties to adorn a room and make you smile during the day!

I did pack away a lot of items that were on the kitchen counters

and this is my simple kitchen decor using ironstone.

Tidbits of Spring in the Kitchen

Hope you all enjoyed your First Day of Spring yesterday.

I have been traveling and a bit in the vacation mode.

While my hubby holds down the fort, I will be visiting my mom while

my brother and sister-in-law are away, as she lives with them,

so my posts may be a bit sporadic the next couple of weeks

and will include some happenings with my mom.

Good thing she does not mind getting in front of the camera.

Today, I shall bring you some Tidbits of Spring in the Kitchen.

Simple Fall Decor in the Kitchen

Simple Fall decor in the kitchen was on the menu for this year.

The Great Room and the Sunroom flank the kitchen,

and Fall decor in these rooms are in full bloom,

so it was best that the kitchen showed subtle signs of Fall in the air.

Bouquets of Bakelite

Bouquets of Bakelite silverware is just the thing I needed

to start thinking of the direction I want to go in

to plan for the Fall decor in the kitchen.

Bakelite silverware is some of the many things I that acquired from my friend Martha.

Summer Kitchen Vignettes

As I was adding hydrangeas to the kitchen the other day,

I decided it was time to change out some things on one of my kitchen counters.

for a lighter feel for summer.

I felt that the dark background of the tole tray needed to be replaced.

The Beauty of Spring in the Kitchen

It was time to add the beauty of Spring in the kitchen.

A room where I spend, like  most of you I am sure, the most amount of time,

of any room in the house.

Whether we are cooking for our family or friends,

or having a leisurely lunch . . . this is where the heart of the home is.

Speaking of lunch, I am joining 5 amazing fellow French Country design blog friends

to present a theme of “Noon”.

My kitchen is filled mainly with vintage items

from the good ole’ USA, France and England,

such as these English crocks filled with old silver spoons.

I Got a Kiss and a Hug Over This Antique Piece

I got a kiss and a hug over this antique piece. He loves it.

He has never reacted to an antique item that I brought home before.

Well, except for the antique wood and iron shutters in the background.

Oh, he would always say it was very nice and then ask where are you going to put it?

It is an item that I have always wished I had, admired from afar,

but never found the right one. Until Martha had her moving sale.
