Master Bathroom Changes

Lately these days, I often think about how great it does feel

to de-clutter and asking myself, “do I really need this?”

These past few days, I have been working on closets and linen closets.

Each bathroom, with the exception of the powder rooms, have linen closets.

It seemed as though if I was unsure of where to store something,

it pretty much ended up in one of those closets.

Linen closets, drawers, cabinets, and counters de-cluttered . . . done. . .

and I am happy with the Master Bathroom changes.

A Simple Hydrangea Tablescape and More Gilding

I  had a busy week this past week.

So what did I accomplish?

A Simple Hydrangea Tablescape and More Gilding.

My busy week included getting prepared for cooking and baking

for my turn at our Dinner Group this past weekend

and gilding the lily again.

First, here is what I thought needed a little more glam to its appearance.

An Estate Sale Find – Master Bathroom

I love estate sales. Some are better than others

as far as finding a treasure or two, or more!

I found this little treasure a long time ago. I do not think I have shared this with you.

I placed it in the Guest Room Bathroom and the location of it was hard to photograph

so maybe that is why you may not have seen it.

The Master Bathroom as you enter the room.

In The Evening ~ The Master Bathroom

In the evening after a long day of activities,

it is always nice to know that I can have that Calgon bath to take me away!

12 years ago, when we were working on the plans for our house,

there was one thing that was on my “must have” list. A free standing tub.

The Master Bedroom/Bath & Living Room ~ Southern Living 2015 Idea House

When I visited the 2015 Southern Living Idea House, I was trying to envision

if we could actually live on the first floor, as we yearn to downsize.

With a few tweaks here and there, it is definitely doable!

Especially the master bedroom suite. While it is smaller than ours now,

the layout and access to the outdoor spaces is really nice.

Just love the soft blues and browns in this room.

Notice the occasional table next to the chair. It is fabulous! It is by Bunny Willams Home.

To the left of the mantel is the french door that leads out to an intimate porch.

I love the fireplace in the room

I would definitely opt out for the space of a traditional dresser for this fireplace, would you?

The closet in the master is very large and would accommodate lots of clothes!

The chairs are also from the Bunny Williams Home Collection. (

Every room in the house had a beautiful view.

This hallway or loggia is off the end of the foyer which leads to the master bedroom suite.

To the left of the chair is a door that leads to the patio that is between two screened porches.

Great reflection of a painting in the mirror that is hanging in the loggia/hallway.

Off the loggia of the master bedroom suite are the closet and the master bath.

A fabulous closet and I love that the mirror reflects the beautiful painting in the bathroom.

Every mirror should have a beautiful reflection . . . even if it is just you! 🙂

The free standing tub is situated between the two vanities.

The bath accessories are from the Southern Living collection sold at Dillards.

And since we are on a bit of a bathroom tour, here is the powder room

that is right by the door leading to the breezeway that connects the garage to the house.

A simple, yet elegant powder room.

Across from the powder room is the mud room area.

It’s a beauty!

A Vintage Stool

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Liberty Antiques Festival in Liberty, NC.

The same festival of which Kim and Mary Alice (along with their hubbies) attended too . . .

~ ~ and happy that they were my house guests.

While making the final rounds of the antique festival . . .

~ ~ Mary Alice asked what I was searching for.

I remarked that I would love a small chippy stool.

She then remembered one that was a few rows back . . .

~ ~ I did see that one, but it did not have a tag on it.

Mary Alice asked what my bottom price was for the stool . . . then she quickly marched off.

She came back with the stool !! . . .

Adding Texture & Color to the Master Bathroom

After discussing the photo shoot of my home with the editor . . .

I asked if there was anything she recommend that I do.

She made two suggestions . . . one was to add something to my master bathroom . .

~ ~ that would add some color and texture to an area in the room.

Master Bath

Master Bath

Could it be in the details of the accessories? . .

Master Bath View

Or in the color and texture of flowers that can be seen outside the bathroom window ?. .

Master Bath View

Another view from the window . . oops!..I guess I did not draw the blinds up very evenly!!!

Master Bath

Or is it in the color and texture of an orchid or a fluffy monogrammed towel??

Master Bath

Master Bath

Have you guessed ??? It’s the rug!..My new Dash and Albert rug . .

~ ~ I love the beauty and quality of Dash and Albert rugs.

Master Bathroom

The editor was right . . the rug added just the perfect touch of texture, color . . .

~ ~ and warmth . . and the great part about this rug other than its beauty . .

~ ~ ~ ~ is that it is an indoor/outdoor rug . . perfect for a bathroom.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Note: This is not a sponsored post for Dash and Albert, all opinions are my own.

Adding “bling” to the Master Bathroom

Just a little change to the Master Bathroom…

…..I added some “bling” to the cabinetry.

This is what you see when you enter the Master Bathroom…

Then you turn to the right and see the vanity…

…..I added new crystal hardware to the cabinetry.

I won a giveaway from Whitney of Drab to Fab Design..

…..she was giving away a gift card to D. Lawless Hardware and I won!

I chose the octagonal crystal hardware…they were backordered and I happily received them this week!

They truly made a beautiful difference!

Since I am taking pics of the vanity with its new jewelry….

…..I thought that I would give you a little tour of the room.

Originally there was no trim molding between the two end cabinets (linen closets)…and it looked bare..

… we added the trim molding and it seemed to tie the cabinetry together.

I purchased this beautiful cabinet from my friend Kristen of Sophia’s Decor.

It’s always fun changing out the vignette on this table…

…..I have another vignette in mind for this table soon.

This pretty box housed a candle…it is from the collection of Sandra Bullock, the actress…

…..I purchased this from her deli/gift shop in Austin, Texas.

We ate at her restaurant across the street (Bess Bistro on Pecan)….

Her restaurant was fantastic with great food and atmosphere.

This table next to the tub is convenient for the soap dish and other pretties…

…..A silver monogrammed hair brush and comb, a silver bowl of shells, and…

………..a candy dish from HomeGoods to hold the bath soap…The Dove soap goes well with the dish!

Having a chair in the bathroom is so convenient for tossing your robe or clothes onto…

…..or in my hubby’s case, tying his shoes.

The sequined shell pillow is from Pottery goes so well with the shell motif in the tile.

And last but not the “privy”…

There is a wicker hamper and towel rack behind the door…

Just a small room large enough for “the necessary”….

So love my new “bling” for the master bath…and hope you did too…
