The Foyer for Christmas

For the first decorated room/area reveal this Christmas season is the room/area

that you first see when you enter my home . . . The Foyer for Christmas.

This year, rather than filling the house with many of my Christmas treasures that

I have collected over the years, I am trying to embellish the things that I already have.

This way I do not have to banish lots of accessories into the attic.

Now it is not to say that I am not using many of my Christmas treasures,

just scaling down a bit.

Decking the Halls

I have been busy decking the halls, but no boughs of holly . . . yet.

I thought that this year I would scale back on the number of trees

that I would decorate for Christmas. However, so far, I have done three

and possibly one more if time allows.

I thought that I would show you some snippets of what I have been doing.

First a peek at the dining room tree.

Rainy Day Christmas Decorating

Rainy day Christmas decorating was what I did yesterday.

Yes, it rained all day long!

However, that was OK, as I am still busy decorating the house

getting ready for a Christmas Home tour on Sunday.

Deck the Halls in the Sunroom

When the Holiday season nears, I look forward to planning on how I want to

Deck the Halls in the Sunroom.

It is a room that I feel I can have fun with whatever theme I chose

for the Christmas season.

I decided to dress the dining room in my favorite Christmas traditions.

With that decision, I decided to do the same in the sunroom.

Filling it with happy memories of the past and present.

Actually it all started with a tree, as in the dining room. A beautiful tree.

Florentine Nesting Tables

On one of my trips to Florida this month,

I had the opportunity to visit some antique shops in Ft. Myers,

while hubby was playing in a Baseball tournament.

I found something that I knew would fit in the car easily,

as they could be stacked inside of each other . . . Florentine Nesting tables.

Cookie Baking In Progress ~ Take Out Menus In Drawer

Cookie baking in progress

take-out menus in drawer

is what the kitchen chalkboard chef sign says these days.

Do you find that with all of the Holiday preparations that need to be done,

when it comes to the dinner hour, you just can’t seem to get it together

with cookies cooling in sheets all over the counter

or the island is filled with rolls of wrapping paper, boxes and ribbon?

Guest Room and Garlands

For the most part, many of us have guests over the holidays.

It is always wonderful to have either family or friends gather together to celebrate

treasured traditions.

Therefore, it is a good thing to have your guest room ready for either the

expected or sometimes last minute guests.

The Sunroom Upside Down Christmas Tree and the Five Favorites and Winner of the “Better Late Thank Never” Linky Party

Before I tell you who the “faves” and winner of the “Better Late Than Never” Linky Party…

…..I thought I would keep you in suspense and present my large Upside Down Tree.

It stands in the corner of the sunroom…

…..It is put together like a regular tree..

I have red accents in the sunroom, so I use red ornaments and glass “icicles” in the tree…

…..along with these cute little owls and birds..

I used the same holly berry garland at the top of the tree that is also on my mantel…

I have been fortunate to find these pretty red glass ornaments on sale after Christmas…

…..and the owls too!

I use quilt batting..berry sprays and evergreens to decorate the base of the tree…

…..and a few crystal snowflakes

A view of the sunroom…..

As with most rooms…furniture has to be moved about to accommodate the trees…

…..I am certain you all can relate!!

I just love Cyclamen this time of year!!…

A few “tidbits” around the room….

Another Nativity that I have…It is “faux marble”…

And this cutie..flew from the tree and landed here…

Thank you for your patience in another picture filled post…and now to the announcement…

…..Do you remember our Linky Party..”Better Late Than Never Christmas Inspirations”??

……….that I participated in with these beautiful fellow bloggers?

At this time…we would like to present our five faves from the party:

Many of you know this very beautiful blogger…Becca of Adventures in Decorating

She presented this gorgeous room that was inspired by a beautiful plate…

And Mary from Home Is Where The Boat Is presented her most creative “Oh Fishing Tree”…

…..a fishing theme….Her tablescapes are also so magnificent…

……….and her garden cottage is out of the world!

Oh My..this chalkboard art from Kelly of The Lily Pad Cottage is magnificent!!…

This wonderful festive appetizer was presented by Jocelyn of Caramel Potatoes

Pat from Back Porch Musings shared her gorgeous mantel…Her home is beautiful..

…..and her photography is perfection.

So many wonderful links to the party…I so enjoyed them all…so many great inspirations!

We thank you all for joining the party!!!

And the winner…Congratulations to KELLY of THE LILY PAD COTTAGE

…..For her magnificent Chalkboard Art!!!

My Living Room Tree…finally!

Finally…”better late than never”…the living room is finally all decked out for Christmas…

It takes a lot of going up and down a 10 foot ladder to deck a 12 foot tree…

…..I am getting too old for this…need a smaller tree!

However, it looks so “majestic” with the height of the ceiling.

I overlaid the green ribbon with a gold glittered ribbon…

…..for a little more bling!

Rather than line the foyer with poinsettias as I did last year..I chose a more natural look…

……I can hear my friend Linda applauding me now…

Rather than embellishing the garland with ribbon, etc..

…..I chose to leave it natural..adding a few birds here and there.

The tree is filled with many sentimental ornaments…

… this “vignette” for my son…he played soccer…still does!

Another “vignette” of “Florida” ornaments given to me by friends…

The train “stained glass” ornament was my very first Hallmark ornament purchase!

I love Christopher Radko ornaments…especially the “911” tribute collection…

And then there are always the “travel momentos”…

…..bought this one on one of our “Christmastime” trips to NYC.

My friend Linda and I were browsing in the gift shop before the show…We spotted this beauty…but there was only one!…The clerk said that there were more across the street from the show…the show was starting soon…but we ran out of the Music Hall..crossed barricades and darted into get another ornament!..What we do for a great ornament…We made the show just in time!…:)

Tavern on the Green…so enjoyed our lunch there…so sad it is gone!

I recently received this beauty from a friend…

…..she knows how much I want to go to France…She has been there many times…

So if I concentrate on this enough…I may someday go…hope so K & K!!

I love my set of carolers that I place around the tree..

…..this is the other side of the tree…

And now I am going to share some more “vignettes” around the room…

I embellished my existing decor..something that I am going to do more of next year..

…..more natural….less is more.

The top of the secretary..I made the swag/garland..

…..and the print is a gift from my friend Sherry…the artist is from N.C.!

Hard to get a good pic of it due to the reflection…

Glad you are hanging in with me with all these pics…have lots to share..

…..before Christmas!

Down the stairwell are two vignettes of Byers Carolers…

Many of these have been generous gifts from family and friends…

My Salvation Army Collection…below the Thomas Kincaid limited edition he painted after 911.

Here is my antique Salvation Army Hat…

A few more tidbits around the room…

My fruit collection..

A poinsettia in my Red Wing crock on the hearth…

And I leave you with one of my favorite Radko Ornaments….

See you later with my large upside down tree in the sunroom…
