Simple Winter Mantel

Lately, it seems as though I have been decorating my mantel in a more simplistic fashion

and for the most part, shopping the house keeping in mind that less is more.

I have had these topiaries for many years and they tend to move around the house often.

Today they have found their way to the Great Room mantel along with a new addition.

So today, I present my Simple Winter Mantel.

Transitioning the Great Room to Winter

Transitioning the Great Room to Winter was rather easy.

The decorations that were Christmas specific were taken down and stored away.

Yet, there were many things that remained as they had a winter look and feel.

Everything in the room are things that I already had in my stash

with the exception of two fur trimmed pillows

that were on clearance after Christmas.

A Wreath Is Not Only for a Door. . . A Mantelscape

A wreath is not only for a door.

You have seen them hung on walls, on mirrors, on a bookcase

or a decorative element for a chair.

So many ways that you can decorate with a wreath.

I have used my preserved boxwood wreath in a container in the past.

Today, it is in a container.

Easily Transitioning from Christmas to a Winter Mantel

When I created my Christmas Mantel, I kept in mind that I want to be able to easily transition

it to Winter by making a few adjustments.

By doing this, this certainly created less work and a great segue into Winter.

A Wintery Christmas Mantel

In the years past, I used a green garland and trimmed it with ribbon, ornaments,

and all the pretties of Christmas.

This year, I went with a white flocked garland to create a Wintery Christmas Mantel.

A “Wintery” Mantel

I have been waiting for a friend to arrive before I take down my decorations….

She is special….so worth the wait!

…..but I went ahead and “dismantled” the living room mantel yesterday.

I hope that a picture of the Christmas Mantel will be OK for my guests…

It is amazing that it takes me more than a day to create the Christmas Mantel…

…..and less than an hour to take it all down!

I wanted a “wintery” look…
