During the months of October through December, there is not much time for projects for me as I am busy decorating for Christmas and getting ready for our community’s Annual Christmas Home Tour.
There was one small project that was done actually the night before the tour. I had seen this done in many magazines and books; however, when I saw this done at Stacy Curran’s blog (Conspicuous Style.com) I said to myself that it was a no brainer. This treatment added so much texture, warmth and depth to an all white bookcase. So we covered the wood backing with grasscloth wallpaper I purchased from Sherwin Williams. Due to the Thanksgiving holidays, the wallpaper took longer to ship than normal, so yes, it was a late night before the tour getting it completed. It turned out great.
Wallpaper paste was applied with a paint brush and just applied to the backing of the bookcase. Used a soft cloth to smooth.
Because I did not have the foresight to take pictures of the project (was just in a hurry to get it done)..I took this photo to show the difference from the stark white background to the current textured backing.
So this is my short and sweet “Metamorphosized” project…
