While I am going craa–zee, taking down all my Christmas decorations (one large tree down, a zillion to go) I keep in mind one of the greatest pleasures of decorating my home from top to bottom for Christmas. Of course, it is for me and my family, and friends, but there is another reason. For the past few years, our community has presented a Christmas Home Tour to benefit our local Food Bank. It is so rewarding to be able to raise funds for this great cause.
So, as I spend much time creating my decorations and then the task of removing them, I am very blessed that I can use this passion to benefit a charity.
The wonderful ladies who graciously and generously opened their homes for the tour, presenting the check to the Director of our local food bank..that’s me on the far right.
Another photo featuring our neighborhood food bank rep on far left and a neighborhood realtor (in the middle who generously donated signs and flyers for this event).
So I am seeking more ways to turn my passions into benefiting charities this year. When I was in Florida, I volunteered my services to help decorate and enhance rooms for the sponsored Junior League home for girls. It was fun and challenging obtaining donors such as carpet companies, paint suppliers, etc. for this most wonderful cause.
