Pineapples everywhere!

When does a collection become an obsession? You start collecting something that you just love and it starts

growing. Whether you purchase it, or you receive that item as a gift from family and friends. I love

everything that screams Southern Hospitality..therefore, the symbol of the Pineapple!..So here is SOME of

my collection..Just yesterday, I went over to my friend Sherri’s house for a chat over coffee and muffins

and to help her decide on a new fabric for a chair (believe me, her taste is impeccable and she can

make her own decision, but affirmation is always a good thing)..Anyway, she presented me with a gift of

a footed crystal pineapple bowl..How nice is she?

So I shall start off by showing you the bowl Sherri gave me..Makes a great fruit bowl. Notice the pretty
napkin lined in the crystal basket that holds my paper napkins (also has a pineapplesque design) a gift from
my friend Linda when she was vacationing in Provence..lucky girl. She goes to France and I get a napkin! LOL!

A crystal lidded pineapple and some salt and pepper shakers

A small MacKenzie Childs vase I purchased the last time I was in New York City..Love going to the MacKenzie Childs store each time I am there..the little dish was from a previous NYC trip.

My Lenox fruit collection..My friend Linda and I would take a trip to the outlet mall once a month..miss those
days as I relocated to NC and she to CO.

A taper candle holder repurposed as a bookend!

An antique cake stand..a gift from my friend Donna..I placed a small collection on top..

A lamp base and frame..I believe I am painting that lamp..using the ASCP..

More crystal…

A Waterford and Swarovski pineapples..crystal pineapple clock mfr unknown..

Compote is Heisey Plantation and candle holder is Lenox

A crystal covered jar..

Another covered jar

Waterford Pineapple lamp

Sconce purchased from Bombay many years ago..

A white ceramic pineapple (Two’s Company)..A gift from my Daughter-in-Law..sits on my bedside table…

Our catch-all dish..usually you will find eye glasses, etc in it!

My cookbook holder and my pineapple angel..Notice the “Pooh Pineapple Bear” that my granddaughter gave to me..Giada, what a kind and beautiful lady on the inside and out..Met her at a book signing..My granddaughter
put the post it note she wrote on the book..(sniff, sniff)..Also in the background is a Lenox pineapple hanging on the linen chest drawer pull..They’re everywhere!!

A vignette atop the linen chest

OK..this may not be so pineapplesque..more artichoke, but what a find..Was on the clearance table at Ethan Allen for 90% off..A whopping 10 dollars!!..woo hoo..even the salesperson could not believe it and didn’t snap it up herself!!..The crystal shallow bowl next to it is Heisey Plantation..

Another Waterford pineapple atop an antique book..I love that book!

Another one…notice the picture in the background. My hubby and Graylyn..taken on the beach in Stuart, Fla at my niece’s wedding..she was 2 at the time..our little Flower Girl..

My foyer light..Hinkley Plantation..(ceiling and walls are not that yellow!!..gotta learn how to use my new camera!)

Last, but certainly not least (I have more..) what greets you when you enter my home..a pair of Hinkley Plantation coach lights..

So there you have it..a sample of my Pineapple Collection..Hope you enjoyed it…Let me know!!

  1. It’s not an obsession when it’s done so tastefully.

I miss our shopping trips to Orlando more than you will ever know :-(. I love all of your pineapples and I have about 2/3 of them myself in my home. However, they work much better in your beautiful North Carolina home than they do in Colorado. Great post on your lovely collection. Next time I’m in France, I’ll bring you back something better than a napkin LOL!

  3. What greets people when they enter your home is the most gracious transplanted Southerner I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. There is no better expression of southern hospitality than the pineapple, and you have the most gorgeous collection of them I’ve ever seen!

  10. I think your pineapple collection is very tasteful…the pineapple lighting in the foyer and outside is gorgeous. I also like the white pineapples. Since a pineapple is a sign of hospitality, I might want one for my home…but that’s how it all starts, isn’t it, with just one…;)
