Come Fly With Me…A Butterfly Tablescape

I thought I would present a Spring Table today…My inspiration came from the strands of crystal butterflies..They look so wonderful in the light…

I then remembered my daughter-in-law’s beautiful Lenox Butterfly Meadow china collection….so I asked permission to raid her china cabinet…She graciously agreed and I now present them to you…

DSC_0302

I used “astro turf like indoor/outdoor carpet” for the table cloth..wanted to mimic the look of grass…

DSC_0322

These are a set of three strands of crystal butterflies..I cut them in half to get more impact..

DSC_0283

DSC_0303

The place setting…Lenox Butterfly Meadow..the napkin is in a “rice bowl” and I used the place card holder as a knife rest..

DSC_0304

DSC_0282

When cutting the stands of butterflies, I made certain that I had 4 individual butterflies left to make napkin rings..Luckily, there were two holes at the top of the butterfly..I cut a piece of a wired ribbon to use as a tie and wrapped it around the napkin…when the tie came around, I tied a bow and then cinched the loops together to form a “feeler”…I did this totally by accident!!!..Nice accident!!..I use the wired portion of a lesser price ribbon to use as a covered wire..I use this procedure a lot when decorating for christmas…I tie lots of ornaments to the tree using this method…A sort of a micro pipe cleaner…

DSC_0319

DSC_0297

I think you can see the butterfly’s “feelers” better in this photo

DSC_0294

The container is a the Large Canister of the Butterfly Meadow collection..I used silk hydrangeas and faux branches along with silk dogwood blooms on the table

DSC_0289

Used a combination of white and light green hydrangeas…I try to use quality silks when I can..I have a favorite store that I go and purchase quality silks at very reasonable prices (Dales Greenhouse in Sanford, NC)

DSC_0313

Actually, all the florals, branches, and butterflies were purchased at Dale’s Greenhouse…

DSC_0318

I so love this tea set…I think this is my daughter-in-law’s favorite..she loves having tea in her china tea cups

Loooove it. (said in my nasally-allergy ridden singing voice) I love how you took a beautiful string of crystal butterflies and ran with it. And oh you clever, clever girl. What a super cute idea for a “tablecloth.” I just might have to steal that idea for my Easter buffet. Cute and cuter! The dishes are simply divine and if I were you, I would accidentally forget to return them. heehee You did wonderful. See – I told you that you were worried for naught. You always pull off amazing tablescapes. hugz

♥ Luv ♥ this tablescape, especially those butterflies. They really make the china stand out. And I think the astroturf was a very clever idea for a tablecloth. Besides being perfect for spring, it would look great for a football themed buffet. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi cute lady…this is my first time here and I just LOVE your darling blog! I wanted to join your linky party but am not at home to get to my photos so can’t post as I had hoped. But I will as soon as I get back. A very very sick 9 mo old grandbaby here and we’re helping out.

I love your table. It is stunning. Last year I did two different birthday teas for two different grand daughters and thought about the astro turf but didn’t go that root. Love what you did. It does look like grass. The butterflies are so beautiful and you didn’t miss a detail.what a marvelous creative talent you have. I am going to follow you and am so looking forward to seeing more of your delightful blog.

    Best wishes,

    Nann

I love the Butterfly Meadow collection, and you did a super, super job with all the accessories!!! I especially love how you created the little feelers on the napkin butterflies! How cute! I have acrylic butterflies like that, but I haven’t used them yet. I’m not sure I can follow this! (I bought napkin rings at Hobby Lobby and the strands at Michaels last year.) You have now written the book on what to do with them!!! Great idea to use the place card holder as a knife rest, too! Well done, my friend!

I remember spending way too much time choosing the Christmas tree for the office…then in January decorating it with cotton balls, swabs, etc..then Valentines for February, then the eggs for Easter..and after all that, the building management made us take it down due to it being a “fire hazard”..go figure…Yes, we got lots of “double takes” when passers by saw the tree well after Christmas…Oh those were the days!!!…Miss you my friend!!
