Burlap Chalk Board..Have you ever heard of such a thing?..

I made this project for 3 reasons:

First reason: Cuz it was easy..as in “easy peasy” “it’s a cinch”….gonna join the Cinchy Project
Party at Thistlewood…on Tuesday, March 27th

Second reason: Needed to do a burlap project…
Other than my burlap curtains, thanks also to Thistlewood Farm..See HERE..
You see…..EVERYONE in blogland is doing the burlap thing…

Third reason and most important: This is my project for the “Pass It On Project”. Read about it HERE…
I will be posting about this in my very next post…

So here is how the Burlap Chalk Board started:

DSC_0686

A framed cork bulletin board I purchased from HomeGoods..actually, I purchased 2 of them for the “Pass It On
Project”

DSC_0621

1/8″ plywood was cut to 1/2 of the size of the cork board area and then 2 coats of primer were rolled on…

DSC_0671

Then 3 coats of chalkboard paint were applied…

DSC_0687

Two strips of pre-painted trim molding were cut to the size of the chalk board pieces…

DSC_0691

Then applied using wood glue to separate the sections and finish the edge of the chalkboard..

DSC_0688

I kept the cardboard protectors on to avoid any “boo-boo’s”…

DSC_0692

I then took fringed burlap ribbon and cut them into four strips and glued them down onto the cork board…
So..were you wondering where the burlap was in this project??..

DSC_0699

DSC_0695

So, what do you think??…Looks so much better than cork..and burlapy things are just so “in”….

DSC_0696

So here it is…My Burlap Chalk Board…now you can say, “you have heard of such a thing”….

I am passing on one of my very favorite quotes and song…”I Hope You Dance”…As when “I grow up” I want to be a “Dancer”…so I Hope You Dance in every aspect of life, from the deepest depths of your heart and soul..

Oh that is the coolest thing ever. I think I will have to make one of those for moi! I love how you can write notes but also pin pics and such on it too. Good job girlfriend. This is such a great project that Karianne has started. I love the concept, too, of “pass it on.” Kudos to her for thinking of it, and kudos to you for creating such a great item to share with some lucky Blogger. Hope you survived our very wet weekend. Blessings, Barb

You did a great job on that! That’s both pretty and functional. I just noticed your countertops look like mine. I bet we have the same granite!

So I thought you claimed to be craft challenged … or am I mistaken? If not, you are now a crafter in the true-est sense of the word. Combining chalkboard paint and burlap …

And if the frame was something you paid $1 at Goodwill and spray painted white?

You would be the Trifecta of crafters …
