A Garden Tablescape….

With Spring in full swing and many tending to their gardens, whether flower or vegetable…

I thought that I would bring a bit of a vegetable garden to my outdoor table…

That is about as far as I can go…..no vegetable garden for me……I would be keeping the deer fat and happy….

….and with living on the golf course, there are too many restrictions with regard to fencing…

….so I have to continue to get my veggies from Whole Foods or Fresh Market…

….and pretend I gathered them from my garden!

A centerpiece of veggies representing the veggies on the plates..I added flowers for more texture and loveliness….

The charger is Franciscan and the accent plate is also Franciscan made by Johnson Brothers England….

When I photographed this morning, it was very overcast…go figure the sun is out now!!

We will working on refreshing and planting the flowers as I believe the ultra cold weather is pretty much over…
….a little positive thinking….

Practicing my photography “rule of thirds”…took my first lesson yesterday!!

So I am excited to get going on bringing more color to our yard and freshening mulch, etc…

I then brought the centerpiece back inside, disassembled and returned most of the veggies to the fridge…
I placed the carrots and flowers in a vase and surrounded it with the eggplant and cabbage for future cooking!…

Hope you enjoyed my “vegetable garden”…One that the deer cannot eat!!!…

  8. So here’s how this is going to go down: You’re going to get out the buzz saw and cut off that fabulous front porch and FedEx it to me right away!!! Wow…that is just as I envision ALL Southern porches!!! It’s beautiful, Shirley! I sure wish we had one here, although pretty much no one ever actually sits out on them even if they have them. I don’t know what it is about the Midwest…they’re weird about that. How else are you going to get to know your neighbors?!??!?!!! We have what could best be described as a “stoop” for a front porch. No space for a chair of any size. It’s just kind of….there. Sigh! 🙁 Great tablescape concept!

  32. Your porch is gorgeous! The back yard is so pretty too, I would spend all my time there. Having lived on a golf course at one time I can totally relate to the restrictions you mentioned. After having many broken windows and close calls with wayward golf balls we decided to move. I enjoy your blog very much!

  35. Hi Shirley, Well there is just so much to talk about here. First of all, your beautiful yard!!!! That porch with the rockers is so inviting! And the dishes–Wow–I love love love them with the pretty drawings of the vegetables. I will be on the lookout for them now. And fresh veggies–well, those are also perfect as you can tell from my organic veggie post this week. We have the same deer problem here. I can barely grow shrubs–veggies would be impossible. Happy Earth Day and thanks for the pretty post. Linda
