If Mom Wasn't 600 miles away….

If Mom wasn’t 600 miles away from me…

I would have her over for lunch…

…..at this table

…..on the upper porch

We would watch the squirrels jump from tree to tree….

…..and listen to the wonderful songs of the birds.

She would say, “Why do you have a fake Bonsai tree”?

I would answer, “Because I am Bonsai tree challenged”….I did not get that gene!

She would notice that I used her crocheted table topper she had made for me…

…..it’s a beauty!

She would tell me that she loves my pretty flowers…

…..and then ask, “why are there flowers on my plate?…under this stop watch cover?….

No, mom…it is called a “cloche”…she would say….”Oh, I never saw such a thing”!!!

But it is pretty…..

Then she would ask, “Where did you get these pretty plates”?

…..well, the floral salad/decorative plate is from Arhaus…my new favorite store…

…..and the dinner plate is Copeland Spode, Rosebud Chintz.

The very next thing she would say is…O.K. now…I am ready for my rice and green tea…

So the next time she comes to visit, we shall sit on the porch, and enjoy the view….

…..while sipping our green tea!

Love You Mom!…Happy Mother’s Day!!!

Yes, Mom would love those flowers, the elegance of the table and the beautiful backyard and trees. That crocheted table cover is gorgeous! This is such a nice Mother’s Day tribute. And a Happy Mother’s Day to you, also, Shirley.

  4. That is so cute! In my head I was doing a “Mom voice” to her parts! 🙂 I have fake Bonsai trees, too, so don’t feel that you are alone in your “challenge.” I couldn’t grow a Bonsai if my life depended on it! I can arrange flowers with my eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back, but I sure can’t grow ’em! I hope you and your Mom both have a happy Mother’s Day despite the distance!

  18. How sweet! Sounds like mom has a bit of a sense of humor. Sometimes as moms we ask silly questions. I know my daughters probably think that of me. But no matter how old we know how to enjoy beauty and sip tea!
