it's all about the hospitable home

August 3, 2012 By Shirley

I’m in the “Olympic Games Spirit” with a Chalkboard…

I love watching the Olympic games…

…..cheering for our teams.

Cheering for the great TEAM USA!!!

While watching the games, I had an epiphany!….

…..oh there I go again with my epiphanies.

So love that word, EPIPHANY!

I wanted to put a chalkboard in my butler’s pantry…

DSC_3365

DSC_3065

For those notes to myself…

I have a calendar on the wall…

…..but as you know, a chalkboard is “chic”.

DSC_3066

It needs to be placed in the room…

…..where I pay homage to the great coffee bean!

PicMonkey Collage

I remembered that I had bought a great vintage chalkboard for my hubby’s exercise room!

I thought that it would be perfect for the space in the butler’s pantry.

DSC_3355

Where I hang my favorite Maxwell House Ad…

…..an original ad out of The Ladies Home Journal, dated February, 1925.

Of a very chic couple sipping Maxwell House Coffee at one of the grand hotels of Florida in the “roaring twenties”..

PicMonkey Collage

So again…I ask my hubby….

…..Do you know where the chalkboard is…

……….that hung in your former exercise room that is now the second guest bedroom….

………………the chalkboard that had no place to hang in the corner of the garage.

DSC_3339

Oh yes….Section 2, shelf 4, bin number 5….

So I got out my tools….yes, Karah, and Anne, I have tools…the hammer even has my name on it!!…

…..and I proceeded to hang the chalkboard in a place of honor among the tributes to the great coffee bean…

DSC_3334

I took these tools from my “Crafty Chicks Toolbox”…..

…..and proceeded to hang the chalkboard..

……….while the coffee plaques were watching with anticipation.

PicMonkey Collage

Of what was to take the place of the calendar…

DSC_3360

DSC_3352

Even the cute couple who look like the Campbell Soup kids on that 2-D vintage valentine are wondering…

…..what will be in that coveted area where the calendar once was.

DSC_3336

Applied the board with drywall screws and then covered the silver screw with a black permanent marker…

DSC_3338

So now I can keep track of“MY PERSONAL OLYMPIC EVENTS”

DSC_3341

Every gal needs to keep track of her “Olympic Events”….

DSC_3342

And maybe keep track of a grocery list too….

I hope that you are enjoying the “games” as much as we are….cheering for our wonderful TEAM USA!!!

ADORE!! Love all your little touches! I’m super envious that you have a butler’s pantry AND those fabulous cabinets and counters… Love that chalkboard, too!

Yay for Shirley hanging it all up yourself – although I think you could do a better job of labelling your hammer… How about etching your name onto the handle?? ๐Ÿ˜€

Love ya!! Have an awesome weekend!
