My hubby’s favorite room..{The Bonus Room, aka The Man Cave}

Every guy needs a space….

…..a space he can call his own.

One that “he’ can place his treasured possessions…

…..of his love for all things baseball.

……….and his love for the New York Yankees.

Well that’s my guy…and here I present his favorite room…..

…..the Bonus Room, aka “The Man Cave”

DSC_3680

The pool table he chose is a Brunswick (made in U.S.A.)….

…..that has a black painted finish with a cherry stain.

DSC_3709

I was surprised he chose this style…

…..as I thought he would have chosen a heavy oak or dark mahogany…

……….but I was pleased, as I love this table.

DSC_3700

After the arrival of the table…

…..we decided to add wainscoting to the room to match the table…

DSC_3684

We love the way it turned out!

DSC_3679

His three heroes!..

…..all on one cover of a Life Magazine!

DSC_3707

And here he is with another one of his heroes…Whitey Ford…

….at Cooperstown during the Hall of Fame Induction.

DSC_3698

And of course he got is autograph….

DSC_3712

Along with many other Yankees….

DSC_3688

Yogi…who doesn’t love Yogi!!!…

And more Yankees at the Induction…

DSC_3713

Another hero…The Yankee Clipper….

DSC_3705

As I walked through antique shops….

…..he scouted for baseball memorabilia..like this great bottle.

So there were no objections from him to go to antique shops!

DSC_3708

He likes to collect old gloves….

DSC_3702

I found this beauty on eBay years ago…..

…..a mint condition of a Mickey Mantle baseball glove…

……….that my hubby had when he was a kid….one of his favorite birthday gifts from me!!

DSC_3689

And the baseball card was a gift from dear friends….

DSC_3686

DSC_3710

And loves to collect old baseball games…

DSC_3696

DSC_3703

And who cannot resist a great game of air hockey!..

DSC_3714

DSC_3752

A set of vintage pool balls given to him many years ago from an old friend….

…..who had this set sitting in his sports shop for years.

DSC_3754

And this is where the guys go to quench their thirst!

DSC_3755

DSC_3699

So as you can see….

…..his love for all things “Yankees”..

DSC_3691

DSC_3763

For those players current…

…..and those who have passed on….

DSC_3692

He will always be a fan!

Now that you have seen my hubby’s FAVORITE ROOM…..

…..YOU MUST POP OVER TO KIM’S AT SAVVY SOUTHERN STYLE…

……….as she is featuring MY FAVORITE ROOM!!!…

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!

….AND WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ROOM???

ALSO…HOP OVER TO HEATHER AND VANESSA’S FROM AT THE PICKET FENCE….

…….AND KARI’S FROM THISTLEWOOD FARM..

……….AS THEY ARE HAVING A GIVEAWAY FOR A FREE TICKET TO THE SOUTHERN BLOGGERS CONFERENCE!!!!

That is one heck of a man cave! I think if he were to be banished there “in the doghouse”, he would be just fine! ๐Ÿ™‚ Beautiful choice on the pool table finish, and I love how you mimicked the look with the wainscoting! Just gorgeous…and manly! All of the memorabilia is really fun, too!

I think I am in love with your hubs – a Yankees fan!! Went to the stadium last year and sat with the “bleacher creatures”. What a blast we had!

How fun that he can now go uncomplaining with you to antique shops where he can search like a kid in a candy shop for all things baseball!

And that glove was the primo gift of the century.

(your billiard balls need to come over and have a play date with mine)!

Just saw your room post over at Kim’s, Shirley, but had to see your hubby’s favorite room, too! : ) I can see why he must love it. That pool table is gorgeous. We had one in our old home {but had to sell it when we downsized} that was a beautiful oak, but not with detailing like yours. I love all his autographed items. My hubby has some baseball and football items that he has on shelves in his home office. He’d probably consider that his favorite room, since he set it up the way he wanted or the garage, since he just painted the floor in there and added those speckles. You’d think it was the Sistine Chapel the way he looks at it!

Manly room with manly color scheme that adds to the manly furniture and decor. Too bad you aren’t collecting Cub-stuff. I’d loan you my INvaluable (in that it has no value) photo of me and my cousin, Sammy Sosa!

What a GREAT man cave! We will have a VERY similiar bonus room at the new house but Joe’s man cave will be downstairs. His pool table, bar, TV area, and a table and chairs. Can’t wait to share it. Joe’s office as his sports memorabelia all ove. I think he’ll keep it like that. Thanks for sharing this great room, I love the wainscoting! XO, Pinky

We dream of having a room for all of our sports memorabilia … and a pool table. But there will be NO Yankees paraphernalia involved, that is for sure. ๐Ÿ™‚ Your hubby’s space and so beautiful and perfectly accessorized with sporty, personalized items. You continue to prove that you have such wonderful taste and style!! So happy to have you as a personal consultant. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Shirley,

This is an awesome man cave; what husband wouldn’t love to escape to this fun room? My brother-in-law is a SERIOUS baseball fan; when he first got married he started a Fantasy Baseball team with a group of his friends. Now he coaches one of his sons in Little League Baseball. My husband would love the pool table — it’s a beaut! And I would love the air hockey game; I’m not that good at it, but I like to play. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I hope you’re having a great weekend!

    Hugs,

    Denise
