We are the Crafty Chicks…A Hometalk Craft Party

My neighborhood has many, many fun groups.

From the Book Club, Bunco, Bible Study Groups, Word Wizards, Sew n’ Sews (sews pillows for children in our local hospitals)….to Mahjong, to many seasonal activities…we are a very active neighborhood.

But, the one of the most fun group is our Crafty Chicks Group…

…..where ladies gather to make a craft that have been pre-selected at the beginning of the year.

DSC_4512

I am using my antique chalkboard easel..it is missing some parts that are in the garage getting glued…
…..it was damaged in our last move….:(

The group meets every other month or so…crafts pre-selected and hosted by the one who introduces the craft to the group to be made….

This week I co-hosted the Crafty Chicks with my friend Martha….

…..the project was a holly covered conical tree.

The night before, I prepared signs for the room.

DSC_4509

For it’s a Crafty Chicks Party for Hometalk!

And what’s a Crafty Chicks Party without refreshments.

DSC_4515

I arrived early to set up the refreshment table and Martha set up the crafting areas.

DSC_4539

Always lots of food and fun at these parties….

DSC_4519

I used my trusty Longaberger Pumpkin baskets and fall decor for the display.

I am not sure what I love best…making the craft project, or creating the tablescape!

So here are some of my fellow Crafty Chicks….

DSC_4569

Sherri…wearing the pretty Hometalk Crafting aprons! Courtesy of the wonderful people of Hometalk!!

And here we have my co-host Martha (in red) helping out Dolores with her magnolia tree…

…..you were not required to choose the Holly version.

The ladies are enjoying creating their trees…

DSC_4566

DSC_4544

We had 14 crafters that day…

DSC_4564

Chris is always the happy crafter…She is coordinating our upcoming Craft/Artisan Show and Sale next month.

And Martha goes from table to table guiding and helping the crafters along….

Giving instructions to Miriam…

DSC_4550

DSC_4563

Lots of painting and glueing going on…

DSC_4557

And here is the beginning of my “masterpiece”…I am using a vintage milk glass candlestick as a base…

DSC_4572

Sherri staining her wooden tree stand that Martha’s hubby so kindly made for everyone….
…..fingers make great stain brushes!

DSC_4556

Oh, and speaking of my dear friend Sheri…she bought me these napkins…
…..she said it reminded her of me!…what??!!!..:)

DSC_4555

And here is my sweet friend Dolores still working on her magnolia leaf tree….

…..she uses lots of magnolias in her Christmas decor.

DSC_4580

Linda, Alice, and Kathy…still busy creating their trees…

…..so glad that they are not among the “camera shy”….

DSC_4575

And Sharon is almost done…just needs some finishing touches!

DSC_4574

And Alice is the first one done!

DSC_4582

And then the ever so bubbly and happy Linda completed hers!

DSC_4581

Sherri uses ribbon instead of holly leaves and uses a small wreath as the base for her tree..
….she is putting finishing touches on her creation!

DSC_4584

And that fun-loving Dolores always keeps us laughing!

DSC_4577

It was a fun day crafting on behalf of Hometalk...

DSC_4561

We thank you so much for our very pretty aprons!…

DSC_4567

Martha and I had a wonderful time co-hosting this wonderful event together….

…..and did I mention what a talented artisan Martha is?…

……….she is a talented watercolor artist, quilter, gourmet cook, and the list goes on….

……………she is our Martha Stewart of the neighborhood..and a great friend…

Hope you enjoyed our Hometalk Crafty Chicks Party!!!

That party looks like so much fun! I just love the little trees that everyone made. I don’t do a lot of crafts, but I think I could actually do that one! Ha! I love how pretty your food table looked too. It looks like it was professionally styled! Looks like you have a lot of nice neighbors.

Such a pretty spread and what a great craft! Pinning!

I agree with Kelly; the table looks professionally styled. And I guess it was, by a professional blogger!

And are those the maple cookies from Earth Fare? If so, I know they are delicious.

And you look so pretty, Shirley, in your fall colors!

    Looks like a fun time.

I think Dolores and I would be kindred spirits. I’m slow, too! Let me rephrase that: not slow…just like to contemplate and be thorough! ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s it! Yes! Dolores and I are both deep thinkers!!! This looks like so much fun, and I wish we could do something like this with the ladies in our ‘hood. So many of them are either retired or don’t work outside the home. They’re just never here!!! Some of them spend more time at their “winter homes” or “summer homes” than they do here! I hope I can grow up to be like that! ๐Ÿ™‚ Everything looks fantastic, and my hats off to ALL of you…especially sister Dolores! ๐Ÿ™‚

Your party looks like such fun. I wish I lived close so I could join you all. Such a nice lot of ladies.
The women I know think crafting is dumb and unnecessary, too much mess. I met a couple ladies at an American Legion BBQ couple weeks ago and when I asked them about crafting or decorating for Fall they thought I was weird. They actually said that to me. An old friend came to visit not too long ago and she kept asking why I do all the decorating, crafting.
If I couldn’t craft and decorate don’t know what I’d do with myself. I’m always asking hubby, will you do this for me, will you spray that for me, etc. Have to keep him busy also.

That looks like so much fun. I would love to have a craft group. I’m beginning work soon on my craft room (one of my spare bedrooms). I saw a blog that showcased a craft table from two Walmart bookcases and a door suspended on top. I miss my craft days! Butnot for long! Would love to know when your neighborhood craft sale is.

Now this is my idea of fun! How lucky you are to be in a neighborhood where women gather to do girl things. I can easily imagine the good times to say nothing of the clever creations.

What a great project and fun crafting day, Shirley! But where’s your finished one? I like the idea of the candlestick you used for your base. Love the way you set up your refreshment table. The plaid fabric you used for the cloth is perfect for Fall. The food looks pretty good, too.
