Enhancing a Kitchen Island

Recently, my neighborhood held its Annual Craft/Artisan Show…

I showcased and sold my Christmas Wreaths..

DSC_5414

And my friend Kristen, of Sophia’s Decor showcased her gorgeous furniture transformations…

…..along with her beautiful jewelry, pillows, wreaths, table runners, and many other items.

DSC_5403

She and her mom are the cutest…and so talented!!

They staged the front entrance with their beautiful items….

…..one of which I snagged quickly…it was marked sold before anyone else could get to it!!!

DSC_5710

The cute table Kristen painted in ASCP Old White….

…..and used Miss Mustard Seed’s lovely wax..

I had the perfect place for that table…here’s the before…

DSC_5705

And here is the after….

DSC_5743

I really wanted a larger island when designing the kitchen…

…..however, the builder and the cabinet maker thought it was best that I have more room…

……….between the island and the other bank of cabinetry.

But, I still felt I could have “squeezed” another foot or so for a larger island.

DSC_5734

So thanks Kristen…for providing me with the opportunity…

…..to enhance my kitchen island.

DSC_5719

I love the contrast of the white and cherry finish…

DSC_5722

It adds great surface space and storage….

DSC_5713

I so love this beautiful table that Kristen re-furbished…

…..it is just the “extra something” that my kitchen island needed!!….

And soon there will be a “Kitchen Christmas Tree” on the table!

I will be joining:

PERFECT solution!!!!!! I know you were probably just beside yourself when everyone was telling you the island needed to be more compact. It’s not like THEY’RE the ones cooking in that kitchen!!! We know what we want and need!!! But you won out in the end because this is a fabulous and very stylish solution! I’m still trying to solve my dilemma of NO center island. Instead, we have a dumb breakfast bar that is in the way and too cumbersome for anything but a small buffet area. I would much rather have an island with more storage underneath. That dumb breakfast bar serves no purpose on this earth and should be taken out back and shot at dawn! πŸ™‚

Shirley~ That little table is the perfect fit at the end of your island and what a bargain too! Our island is small like the kitchen at the lake unfortunately so there’s no room for an additional piece. What a great place for a little Christmas tree πŸ™‚

Oh Shirley! I love that little table and it is perfect at the end of your island. I went back and forth with our cabinet guy about an island too. He swore I needed more room and was very certain I would need more room between the cabinets. I won the argument. Have to admit I lost the range hood cover battle, though.;-)

Hi Shirley! Just think if your island was bigger you never would have been able to use this there! I can’t believe how great the stain matches your cabinets – looks custom and meant to be.

Great little spot for accessorizing for the change of seasons.

Wish our neighborhood/town had events like this!

    Happy Thanksgiving,
    Sincerely, Jeannette
