A Christmas Tradition…the Scavenger Hunt!

I hope you all had a most joyous Christmas….

DSC_7114

A couple of years ago…instead of placing gifts under the tree for our granddaughter..

…..we decided to place them throughout the house…

……….for you see, Santa does that at Grandma and Pop’s house.

So “Santa Pop” makes clues on Christmas Eve…

…..so that “Miss Gray” can solve them and find the gifts that Santa brought.

“GRAYLYN’S STOCKING WAS HUNG IN AN ODD PLACE WITH MUCH CARE…

…..IN HOPES THAT SHE WOULD FIND IT JUST BY WANDERING THERE.

NOTE: NO NEED TO LOOK FOR THE STOCKING RIGHT NOW…

…..YOU WILL FIND IT LATER..TIED WITH A BOW.”

“THE FIRST GIFT WAS NESTLED UNDER A BED…

…..IN A ROOM WHERE OUR GUESTS LAY DOWN THEIR SWEET HEADS”

“THE NEXT GIFT WAS CLEVERLY HIDDEN UNDER A CAP…

…..WHERE GRANDMA DOES LAUNDRY, INSTEAD OF TAKING A NAP”

(Note: there was a red baseball hat that sat above the dryer…)

“WHEN OUT ON THE BACK LAWN LOOKING UP AT FLOWERS…

…..SANTA SAID “I WILL HIDE ONE UP HIGH BUT YOU DO NOT NEED A LADDER”

Hmmmm..she said…

“Oh I think I know where it is!”

“UP TO THE THIRD FLOOR SANTA FLEW LIKE A FLASH…

…..LOOKING TO FIND A SHUTTER AND A SASH…

INSTEAD HE DISCOVERED WINDOW SEATS THE COLOR OF SNOW…

…..AND SAID I WILL HIDE A PRETTY WRAPPED GIFT RIGHT HERE BELOW”

“HE SPRANG TO HIS SLEIGH TO HIS TEAM GAVE A WHISTLE..

…..AND AWAY THEY ALL FLEW LIKE THE DOWN ON A THISTLE.

BUT I HEARD HIM EXCLAIM, ERE HE DROVE OUT OF SIGHT…

…..MERRY CHRISTMAS GRAYLYN AND ENJOY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS”…

“NOW WE ARE ALL GETTING HUNGRY, SO LET’S OPEN GIFTS QUICK…

…..SO WE CAN CHOW DOWN ON CHRISTMAS DINNER BY GRANDMA ST. NICK”

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas Day filled with much joy…

…..and memories to treasure forever and ever!!!

You get such joy from sharing time with your granddaughter, and it looks like you have created a special wonderland for her. What a lucky girl and how she will cherish her memories.

What a lucky little girl. Her own tree at Grandma’s house and a game that is just for her. She knows she is special at Grandma’s house…..and rightly so. From the looks of the baseball tree and collection you have a pro baseball player in the family or a devoted collector. It’s great that you are enjoying that precious granddaughter while she is young. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Shirley, I have friends that grew up doing a scavenger hunt at Christmas and now in their sixties they do it for their grown children and grandchildren. Your granddaughter is a cutie and I know she will always remember Christmas at Grandmas. Happy New Year xx, Sherry

HI Shirley, I have been catching up with some of your Christmas posts that I missed. What a wonderful tradition you’ve started with your granddaughter. I love that photo of her by the tree with a smile as wide as the Mississippi River! Love her own personalized Christmas tree! Our granddaughters have been here for about a week and just left yesterday! HEAVEN! You will understand that! Happy New Year!
