The living room is free of all winter decorating…
…..I am moving on to “pre-Spring” since Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early Spring..!!
I took down the “winter decor” of branches with icicles and replaced them with these cute bunnies.
I finally found these bunnies at the Pottery Barn outlet in Georgia…
…..by the time I went to buy them last year, they were sold out…so glad they are back this year.
Such a playful couple…holding up the “Boys and Girls Bookshelf Books….
I wanted a more “cleaner pre-Spring” look for the mantel…
…..after having so much going on the mantel these past few months (and more)!
I purchased these books from an antique shop while on the “thrifting tour”…..
…..with the Southern Bloggers Conference.
The books came with the original box…it is dated 1910 and has the original shipping label on it!
They are a set of 12 and there were only 7 in the box….
…..so now I am on the quest to find the other 5 books.
Now.. the box contains some of my vintage games.
When the winter decor was eliminated from the room…I set out to shop the house and freshen up some new areas.
This hurricane was in the sunroom with shells….I brought it to the living room…
…..added beach glass for color.
Brought back the PB mercury glass balls…
While at the outlet mall…
…..I scored, along with Kim, this beautiful basket from Williams Sonoma…It was $60 off!
You may have seen this on Kim’s table in her sunroom.
A few more little changes here and there…
A lamp moved from the sunroom….pillows moved to the sofa from the bedroom…
That domino effect again….
And always keeping my favorite picture nearby…
Oh just look at those two young things!!…:)
Now, if you are observant like my friend Linda…you would say…
….now wasn’t that topiary that is on the mantel in the sunroom just the other day?
Yes, but things change around here quickly…and it was replaced by this watercolor.
And the candle hopped over to the potting bench…
So here you have it…my “pre-Spring” decor for the living/great room…..
…..Let’s see how long it takes me to change it up again!
Have a wonderful weekend!!!
Thanks for visiting!!!

Oh, I love those little bunnies kicking their feet up! Wow, that is just beautiful. I hope you can find the other five books. Everything looks so feng shui! Love it.
Love your spring decor…..never too early to start! I placed my Spring wreath on the front door today. BTW……you two are a handsome couple!
Looking good all fresh for spring. We got the baskets at WS not Rh.
Ooops made a mistake…the baskets we bought did come from Williams-Sonoma outlet!!!…
Always love your changes- I want that basket!! π I bet your hubby is glad that you don’t change him out as much as your mantel decor!
Shirley your mantel looks BEAUTIFUL!! All your spring touches look so pretty!
Ah, spring….the season does lend itself to warmer colors and different textures. No matter what your changes, they are always in good taste and candy for the eye.
Oh, you 2 are adorable!! I love those bunnies holding up the greens. LOVE the piece above the fireplace, awesome. Have a beautiful weekend. It is SPRING LIKE here, 56 degrees but going to be FRIGID for the weekend:(:( I am longing for Spring. XO, Pinky
The bunnies are super cute and I love the cleaner look of the mantle. No one is better than you at rearranging things and finding new places for old things. I just put all of my Valentine’s decor away and started decorating for St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a little too early here to think spring. Oh, and speaking of cute, that’s a great picture of you and Tom!!
Ahh the spring bug! Even I’m getting it and I have a ways to go before I’ll see it! I noticed that basket on the fireplace hearth in your previous post. I like that- I’ve had my eye on one at PB but it’s very long. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one the moves things around and likes to get a new look!
So pretty Shrirley! I just love those bunnies — they are perfect on the mantel. I think I can hear the birds flying North already ….
π Linda
LOL, you’ve been busy! Love those antique books… let me know which 5 you’re on the look out for and I’ll keep my eyes peeled for you!
xo Heidi
I’m probably mistaken, but is the watercolor on display in your sun room a Matha Odins original? I have been looking everywhere for more of Odins’ work. I love her use of color to give life to such simple subjects as the fruits and vegetables found all around her NC home. Where did you find these delicious cherries? They are perfect in this setting!
Very pretty, Shirley! Just right for this in-between time, too. Love those bunnies! I got a PB bunny candle/holder at the outlet last year; wish I’d seen these although they might have been sold out at that point.
You spring touches are all so pretty. Love your home and your style. Your pre-spring decor is perfect. Hugs, Marty
Holy cow!!! I just did something similar on my living room mantel!!!!! Did our brains merge for a moment??!?!?! π Mine isn’t as cool-looking as yours because I don’t have that fabulous wood & iron vintage piece behind it OR those cute bunnies. But the same basic idea. Weird!!! I’m going to pin yours rather than mine!!! Everything is looking fantabulous as always, m’dear!!!! Have a good weekend!
I love the glass decor. They look so amazing and pretty. Thank you for sharing this one!
HI Shirley,
I love your bunnies on the mantel; I’ve never met a bunny I didn’t like. π Doesn’t it feel so good to get all the extraneous stuff packed away and just re-arrange and freshen things up a bit? I, too, am looking forward to spring; I’m trying not to rush it because I know it will be here pretty soon. It seems like life just flies by so fast these last few years; it makes me a little sad. It feels like yesterday that our son left for college, and now he’s a senior! Where did the time go?
I enjoyed your post, Shirley — hope you have a great week!
Denise
Shirley, I love your bunnies! Your mantel looks wonderful! You always have so many amazing vintage pieces- your books, crate and games! Your crystal pieces are stunning! It all looks great!
Hi Shirley~ Love your changes and additions! Your PB bunnies are so cute, I remember seeing them last year. Your boys & girls book volumes are so dear, especially the wonderful box they came in! Hope you’re staying warm, we had snow on Saturday, but it’s already gone π
Love those little bunnies on your mantel Shirley! All your Spring changes look great. I’m looking forward to the temps warming up after the 2 inches of snow that fell on Saturday. It’s mostly melted now, but it’s still chilly outside!
Beautiful!! Love how you have decorated for spring.
I love the bunnies from PB! I’ve been looking at those myself!
Shirley- Such a pretty room, refreshed for “pre-spring.” I’ve been getting rid of winter decor, as well. It’s good for the soul! LOL Visiting from Marty’s party. Good to meet you! ~ Sue
Beautiful room! I love the way that you have mixed all of the glassware together and those bunnies are so cute! You are making me feel guilty – I need to get busy adding a little spring to my place!
Oh, your mantel is gorgeous and I adore those little bunnies. I want some! Your cloches and glass balls are so pretty! O, I love everything you do.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia π
Those bunnies are adorable!! And I love that box with the books! I’ve never seen anything like that.
Susan
Looks so pretty Shirley. I adore those little bunny book ends. Way too cute!
Oh, your pre-Spring decor is perfect. The little bunny and boxwood bookends are just the cutest, and I love the mercury glass balls and hurricane vignette . Thanks for the inspiration. Have a great week,
Hugs, Babs
It all looks absolutely beautiful Shirley and definitely ready to welcome Spring! I’m ready to move into the next season too even if the temps don’t match my mood. LOL! Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us!
Vanessa
Shirley,
What is that book? Is it a good one? One of my favorite books is, “For the Love of a House” and it looks similar!
Your spring decor looks AMAZING!
blessings,
karianne
That’s so true about the domino effect! I usually end up with a ton of things in storage that i ultimately sell, since I can’t stop buying! Everything here looks great as always π
Stacy
It’s all so lovely Shirley! Love the sweet bunnies and the old books have my heart going pitter-patter! Beautiful job!

That old original box with books is an awesome find. I love special containers like that.

I love the greenery on the mantel…so clean and crisp. I am dying over those mercury glass balls and your crystal pineapples! Cheers to spring coming our way soon π
All your changes really freshen up your room. Love the simplicity of your mantel with the greens. Those bunny plates are adorable. I was doing some pre-spring changes today as well.
Mary Alice
Your house looks lovely. The rabbits are so cute. The hurricane vase is soooo pretty.
Wow its beautiful! I wish I could have something like this in my home π
Oh those bunnies are SO cute – and your mantle looks beautiful!
Thanks so much for linking to TTT. Love all of your changes. Hugs, marty
Everything looks so pretty, Shirley. Shopping the house is just the best — something from one room looks totally different when used in a different way in another room. That is a great basket — so perfect for magazines.
This is just perfect for late winter/early spring! Your mantel is superb! Hope you can stop by the enchanted oven to say hi.
xo,
Lisa
I am coveting those bunnies!!

I LOVE the gates above your mantel…Oh my!
What a gorgeous home you have & I love your Spring mantle. Thank you for inviting us to share the beauty. Blessings, Patti@OldThingsNew
I saw your bunnies on the mantel and really liked them. So I called my local Pottery Barn and all sold out. So I got the store locator and I found one store out of state that had 3 left , I purchased 2. I called a couple stores out of state and finally found this one with a few left. Not sure if I am going to put them on the mantel or the dn. rm. table. great pictures, thanks.
I did your home tour, what a lovely home filled with memories and love. My home is 1100 sq ft 50 yr. old rambler. We remodeled 2 yrs ago our one and only bathrm. to the 21 century! And Dec. 2012 after 5 months we have our tiny kitchen remodeled also. What a difference in our home. new flooring, carpet, and fresh paint. My walls are bare I just can not decide what to put on the walls, especially with a small house and limited wall space. I keep checking my blogs like yours for ideas. What is the saying above your french doors your granddaughter likes? thank you
HI! I just found your blog through Savvy Southern Style! I love your great vignettes!!! Awesome style! Thank you for posting!!!
