A Spring Facelift for the Kitchen

I know we all are looking forward to Spring…

….to the milder temps and pops of color from the beautiful colors from trees and flowers.

So, if I can’t have that outside…

…..I thought I would bring it inside.

DSC_7962

DSC_7963

Yellow flowers make me so happy…yellow tulips and daffodils…

…..plentiful at the stores this time of year.

DSC_7914

DSC_7964

So what’s best for a Spring menu?…Spring Rolls!!

DSC_7967

But absolutely the “take out” kind!!

DSC_7952

The other side of the kitchen got a bit of a makeover too…

DSC_7917

The bread box that I have had forever was on top of the cabinets…

…..you would never notice it, unless you stood back 6 feet or so..

So it came down and replaced a silver tea set I had there.

DSC_7918

A pitcher full of silver spoons and a pitcher on clearance from Williams-Sonoma outlet keep it company.

DSC_7957

DSC_7931

I added this great vintage tray that I bought at our neighborhood yard sale…for $5.00…thanks Martha!

DSC_7920

These faux pears were originally in a decorative glass container…….

…..these pears were purchased years ago from Pottery Barn….they found a new home on this tray.

DSC_7929

So let’s move to the other side of the room again…

I have this A&P vintage shopping cart at the end of the counter.

DSC_7933

The bottom portion is filled with magazines and vintage kitchen tools and cookie cutters…

DSC_7934

The upper portion originally contained the “vintage kitchen items basket”…

…..now that I moved it to the bottom portion..it left me room to place these:

DSC_7939

I brought up some of my vintage tablecloths from the pie safe downstairs in the media room kitchen…

I have been collecting these over the years…

DSC_7938

I thought I would place the happy daisy tablecloth on the top (made by Vera)…..to welcome in Spring..

DSC_7943

DSC_7940

I have an entire set of these adorable “days of the week” tea towels…

…..this one seemed more appropriate for my Spring time decor…

Across from the shopping cart is a new “towel bar” that I purchased from Ikea…

…..it is actually a bar that you can hang little pots and hanging shelves from.

DSC_7936

The “towel bar” fit perfectly there…any larger and it would not have fit!

DSC_7937

Bought these beauties from my friend who collects and sells antique linens…love them! (Martha again!)..

She also is an artist…I have featured her before…she painted this apple…

DSC_7927

And the last thing that I added to the kitchen today was this beauty that I just received…

DSC_7948

From Dear Lillie…love her work and her blog…

DSC_7973

I love that song…”A Wonderful World”…

And it is wonderful when a friend comes by and leaves a “care package”…when you are down with a cold…

DSC_7970

Of homemade chicken soup and wonderful homemade cookies!…Thanks Chris..!!..she is an angel on earth!

So you see, it is a “wonderful world” !!!

DSC_7976

A world filled with wonderful people like you!!….

Have a wonderful day!!!

LOVELY……..we are experiencing warmer temps, flower blubs are appearing, sunshine seeps through windows earlier in the morning and the ice cream vendor is beginning to toot its merry tune in the neighborhood, ah, spring……. LOVELY…Love & Blessings…

Just love it. I need to go out and bring some “happy” to my house too. But afraid it would get lost amongst the sawdust, caulk and paint. Oh the joys of home remodeling. LOL You know I have always been a huge fan of your shopping cart. I love the stack of vintage tablecloths. Perfecto for this time of year. Stay dry today! Ick

Beautiful Shirley! I love everything including those yellow tulips! I need to bring myself home some fresh flowers ๐Ÿ™‚ This weather has been so much more dreary than last year at this time… Was potting flowers at the end of Feb.

Great job, Shirley! I’m not a fan of the color yellow (as you know) EXCEPT in flowers. They just scream Spring to me. And I need a little spring right now after 9 inches of snow this weekend. I too love the song and your new chalkboard. It is a wonderful world! Enjoy it and appreciate each day.

That vintage shopping cart is a trip!!!!! WOW!!! I remember the A&P! I don’t think there has been one here in the Kansas City area for decades! What a fun addition to your kitchen decor!!! Love the bread box, too! I have one, and I love the way it looks. Funny thing…I never actually put bread IN it! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m glad your friends are taking care of you while you’re under the weather. Feel better and stay warm!

The tea towels are beautiful. Loving the yellow tulips in white. I added a small table to the end of our island this week. I think I have the beginnings of cabin fever, thus lots of little changes here and there.
