Happy Friday everyone!
Today, will be a “Ever So Pretty” post…
…..well at least I hope you think it is pretty!!
I was reading a blog post of Willow Wisp Cottage….
…..and saw a table that Andrea transformed.
So I consulted my paint specialist….and proceeded to transform my table!
She suggested Annie Sloan Old Ochre.
Here it is:
My inspiration piece from Willow Wisp Cottage is this:
It used to look like this:
My table was similar…in that it was dark and heavy in appearance…
…..however, mine does not have the pretty details in the legs and top.
Here is my before:
I really love how the “Old Ochre” fit well in the color scheme of the room…
…..and my paint specialist also recommended that I put dark wax on the drawer fronts…great idea!!
And of course you have to have a different “look” for the tablescape…
…..like getting a new hat with a new dress.
I totally went in a different direction from all my crystal pieces…
…..to more of a casual feel….Do you like it?
I shopped the house and came up with this vignette…
My hubby came up from his office and said that he really liked it!
Whew!..that is great, coming from a guy who is a very symmetrical, “matchy matchy” kind of guy!
So there you have it…I took the plunge and painted the table…thanks to lots of inspiration…
…..and coaxing from the paint specialist that I can do it…
Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend…
…..and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
I will be spending that day with the my granddaughter..as it is her birthday as well!!!
Now on to do a St. Patrick’s Day vignette…better late than never!
Thanks for visiting!!
Oh…and my giveaway is still going on…See my posts on the HGTV Dream Home Part 1 and 2..
Post Script:
After an email from “Candice and Sarah”…
I changed the vignette around, losing the magazine (thought I would add some color)…
When bringing the basket forward, the topiary was in the way of TV viewing…can’t have that!!…

I love this transformation and how it blends with the room.

I love what you did to the round table. I have some furniture that was passed down to me from my grandparents that is also a beautiful dark wood and I’m so afraid to repaint like you did. I love yours but at the same time I’m afraid I will ruin it. What are your thoughts on painting antique furniture?
Very pretty, Shirley! Now will you paint the legs of the chair to match?
I absolutely adore this!! It instantly adds so much to the room!! (not that your table before wasn’t great before) but the wax and distressing is sooo perfect on this piece!!
Hi Shirley
I fell in love with the color used by Willow Wisp Cottage, the blue tint
especially. When I saw your project, immediately liked your color too.
(Can you tell I am a Pisces- I’m Wishy Washy supposedly) Your table
color helps in opening your room to the light, making it appear brighter.
Love your project! What type paint do you like to use for your furniture
projects?
Enjoy your time with your granddaughter! It passes too quickly!
Pat
You go, Shirley! I โฅ it. So much more casual looking and lighter (not only in color but in weight). Great job. Have a wonderful weekend.
Paint specialist? Ha ha. That color is perfect and bravo to a job well done!
Indeed a different look altogether – great job too. I am still an old fashioned, back in the “dark” wood ages so your courage is inspiring – I accidentally ruined a small area on my round table (placed center stage) in LR with finger nail polish remover (yeah BIG mistake) and have not found a way to repair it…so all ideas are encouraging cuz I love the table but that spot is a BIG, BIG blunder and stares at me every day…UMPH!!!! Try to catch others not wearing green on Sunday – just for the fun of it…thnx for sharing, Love & Blessings…
So pretty! Love your room, and the red chair is beautiful! Love the fabric and monogram…
Blessings,
Cindy
Heck, yes, I like it! I LOVE it! That really changes not just the mood of the table, but that of the room!!!! Great job, Shirley! Now come do a couple of pieces at our house! ๐ I’m going to pin this bad boy! ๐
Gorgeous! I like the change too.
I love what you did to the table Shirley. I have been painting a few pieces to sell and every site I look at they seem to use the Ann Sloan paint. I can’t seem to find any AS paint in my area. How many coats did you apply? Tell me more about the paint if you could. Thanks!
I am really not big on painted furniture, but I totally adore this piece painted. It looks wonderful. You did a fabulous job. Hugs, Marty
Looks great.
Wow, Shirley, this really looks great! Girl, you are dangerous with a paint can! Lol!! Love the new vignette. So pretty and fresh!
OMG, I LOOOOOVE it. Love the paint, great job, love the vignette, love it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You did a terrific job. It really brightens up the whole room. LOVE it!!! XO, Pinky
Love how the table turned out, Shirley! I love Old Ochre and have used it on some furniture myself. Great vignette. I love the casual feel to it and the texture!
Love it! All of it! The table looks fabulous! I like the deco items too…. You betcha it’s all ever so pretty!
LOVE IT Shirley!! That first shot is gorgeous… I LOVE your monogramed chair too!!
Your table turned out so amazingly!! I am so glad to have helped inspire this project! I was hesitant also to paint my table but was so happy with the result. Beautiful job!!
It gives the room a whole new look and feel. I really like it. I’ve been working on my bedroom, all the while in my thoughts, “Now, what would Shirley do here?” I’ll be happy to see you again soon at my house. Actually, I got one of my ideas in your last blog, the house you toured. Wait til you see. Pam
Shirley, the table looks so fresh and up- to- date now! Your vignette using the tray basket and Demi-John is so pretty, too. Fresh as spring! ๐ Sue
Shirley, your table is gorgeous! Paint magic! Your vignette is lovely with your newly updated table! Your room looks so pretty too- fresh and light!
Looks great Shirley! Love your tabletop styling too! Must be nice to have a styling advisor! Enjoy your weekend! ๐
Wow – love it Shirley! Your table is Ever So Pretty! I can just imagine the difference it must make in your room.
Well, I’d say your effort yielded great result. Where would you be without a project? Your energy is impressive!
this turned out so pretty! love how you decorated it with that wonderful basket full of goodies!
I love the outcome of the your table. I’ve been planning on painting my coffee table but been procrastinating… but you have given me a push and a renewed excitement to get it done! I plan on using chalk paint as well… I’m thinking the duck blue color and maybe with the dark wax. STill playing around with what color… because I’m also liking the idea of the olive color. Thanks for getting the wheels rolling again:D
Wow!!! I loved !!!
It turned out absolutely gorgeous and really brightened up the room…AMAZING!!!
Oh, I love the transformation!! It really gives the room a ‘fresh’ look, and I love the vignette, too!

SWOON Shirley! What a gorgeous new dress your table is donning! I had to click over to confirm if I knew who your paint specialist was ๐ What a great idea to add the dark wax to the drawer fronts, like the perfect scarf of belt! Beautiful job! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
That looks so great! Dying to try this technique! Thanks so much
Your makeover is just stunning! I love the transformation. Pinning for inspiration.

I love how the darker wax brings out the details on your table. Are those busy bees on your chair?
Such a pretty fresh update ~ what on earth would we do without our paint! Another wonderful job, my friend! did ๐ e
Your table looks fantastic, and it does really lift the room right into Spring.
