The wonderful people from Martha Stewart sent me a paint kit filled with fantastic items:
…..a Paint Finish Tool Kit
…..Metallic Paint in Golden Pearl
…..and the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living Magazine.
Needless to say, when they asked if I would consider doing a paint project for them…
…..it took me a millisecond to decide!!
I have a cabinet in the dining room that contains my supply of candles and candlesticks…
…..it needed a facelift…a shiny new look…some bling…with “pearls”…
It looks like as though it has been brought back to life with a gorgeous glow.
Here was the before…it had an Old World aged look…
…..and with the help of the following:
and mainly this:
I was able to turn the cabinet into a shining star!
I kept the raised design of the “leaf and vine” motif….
…..just painted around it.
The paint went on very well and I just love the finish.
The name of the paint is Golden Pearl…and it is exactly what you would expect of a beautiful pearl finish.
So I thank the folks from Martha Stewart Living…
…..for giving me the opportunity to give this cabinet a makeover…
So that she can go to “The Ball”…
…..wearing “Golden Pearls” and glass slippers!!
Have a wonderful day!!
I am joining:
Oh what a wonderful transformation, Shirley! It must have been tricky to paint around the motif though…
Wow! That turned out just beautifully! I would not have thought to put the pealized paint on the whole piece but I really like how it turned out. Great job.
Great job. This is a Lovely piece.
I invite you to visit my blog sometime.
What a great piece of furniture and stunning idea… Love it…
excellent job! Love the new look! (My keyboard won’t capitalize all of a sudden!)
I just love that topiary too- you sure lucked out on it!
gorgeous! do you have to sand and all before you use this paint or is it like chalk paint? Would love for you to share on AMAZE ME MONDAY!!!
Blessings,
Cindy
Very pretty, Shirley! This was a great refresh for this piece. {Don’t know why this is all coming out in small letters}. Love your new blog header, btw!
Like the new look that the paint (and painter) gave to the console, but I’m loving your new header. How come I’m having the same problem as the above poster and am unable to capitalize?
It is not capitalizing as you type, but it comes out capitalized when it is posted…hmmmm…
Nice job, little Martha! (No capitals here, either) what a great improvement! I’m so over the “old world” look and this is such a beautiful fresh look! Great job on the gold filigree, too. did you use rub n’ buff for that?
Cheers!
barbara
Barb..i just painted around the leaf and vine pattern…left is as is…but this metallic paint can certainly be used as a sort of rub and buff!
You did a great job giving the cabinet a whole new look. Painting around all those details must have been a lesson in patience. ๐
Hi Shirley,
i agree with Barbara, a fresh updated look!
you HAVE INSPIRED ME TO TRY SOMETHING NEW!
XOXO

I would love to see how you have your candle and candlesticks stored inside of this piece. I am presently trying to figure out storage for the same things
Wow! It’s gorgeous! Must have been difficult painting around the vine…but well worth it. It looks so bright…especially with the greens on top! ๐
What a great update Shirley, I love this table to begin with but now FANTASTIC!!
Cynthia
love the new look. Darn my shift button is not capitalizing for some reason. Ugh! How nice of them to send you all that stuff.
So very pretty, Shirley. She looks beaituful in gold and pearls. And how very decadent to have a “candle cabinet.” I just have a drawer.
Beautiful sheen……….makes a wonderful change and oh, your new blog header is pretty, I was taken aback at first thinking I may have been in the wrong web site……..I have a hutch that needs a new face lift so – its got me thinkin’……….., thank you for sharing, your beautiful work shines through…LOve & Blessings…
Where can we get the paint around here?
Will you help me turn my jr. guest room pieces into exquisite pearls like your cabinet?
the subtle sheen is deep and elegant…just like you! Thanks for sharing
Dolores
love it
What a beautiful finish, Shirley! I love anything in metallics; and the sheen on your piece is beautiful! You did a great job!
Get down with your incredibly bad self!!! This is great!!! I don’t know what has happened to my capital letter thing here……..it’s not working for some reason on the letters. Sorry about that! I look like I’m trying to be e.e. cummings!!! ๐
Congratulations on being pinpointed as a pro when it comes to tackling creative paint jobs around the house! the folks at m.s. have a good eye to have chosen you!!! And they chose absolutely right!!!! Your cabinet is FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I don’t know how you manage to expertly go around all the little curly-Q things!
Weird….while I’m typing this, everything is in lowercase, but when I press the “post comment” button, it posts with the capital letters! I think my computer is going bonkers….trying to keep up with its owner, no doubt! ๐
What fun the folks at Martha Stewart contacted you … wise move on their part! YOur piece looks Gorgeous, Shirley! You did a fabulous job transforming it with such fun paint!
The chest was beautiful before, but it’s gorgeous now. Love the transformation! Oh – and love the new blog design too!!!
Looks beautiful! I tried the gold on a night stand I wanted to re-do, however, the paint doesn’t cover. Not sure why… I thought anything Martha sold was going to be perfection. I’m so glad your cabinet turned out so well.
The cabinet took two coats and went on very well…
Wow well done this piece really makes a statement. I like it A Lot! xo

The cabinet turned out beautiful, love the pearly tone to it now. I’ve purchased some of Martha’s Metallic paint but not in that color. Might have to get some next time I’m at Hobby Lobby if they have the Golden Pearl in stock.
Visiting you from Met Monday.

Hello are using WordPress for your site platform? I’m new
to the blog world but I’m trying to get started and create my own.
Do you require any coding knowledge to make your own blog?
Any help would be really appreciated!
Great blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?
A design like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog shine.
Please let me know where you got your theme. Kudos
Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of
this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very
difficult to get that “perfect balance” between
user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say that you’ve done
a superb job with this. Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on
Internet explorer. Excellent Blog!
Oooohhh, I really like this paint. I want to paint a drop down secretary desk that is in a bedroom niche and I use it successfully as my vanity. Chalk paint seemed too boring, but I know now I will use Martha Stewart metallic. Thanks for the inspiration.
