Side Table and Magazine Rack Makeovers…

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

I had a wonderful brunch with my family.

After brunch, my son and his family went off to the State Park for the afternoon…

…..it was a beautiful day.

As for me?….my hubby drove me to Ikea (a 2 1/2 hour drive)…

…..to buy much needed items to complete projects.

And speaking of projects…

I was working all day yesterday painting items that have been living in the attic.

I painted this side table that I have had for many, many years.

DSC_9960

I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Old Ochre…the side table is solid pine with a dark walnut stain.

I did a little distressing…

And a little styling…

…..and it’s off to my booth!

I cannot tell you how many times this magazine rack almost went out in the yard sale…

…..but I held back.

I also painted this solid pine piece with ASCP Old Ochre..

I really like it here…but I have to be good and let it go…

…..so now I am off take these items to my booth and buy more paint!!!

It is so beautiful here today so I am looking forward to my drive to the quaint city of Mebane.

Hope your day is as beautiful!!

How lovely those pieces are! I’m supposed to take a chalk paint class tomorrow night at Melville Trading. I hope it doesn’t get cancelled. I’m anxious to learn so I can paint an old secretary I have in my breakfast nook.

I don’t know HOW you’re able to let those pieces go after putting so much work into them to make such lovely new pieces!!!!!! You are very strong. I am weak. πŸ™‚

I’m glad to hear you had a good Mother’s Day!

They turned out beautifully, Shirley. I have a little sweetgrass basket just like the one in the photo, bought from a basket maker at the old market in Charleston. Her grandson made it.

I did the stove top vignette this morning, inspired by the one in the show house, and posted about it. I am going to work on a floral arrangement, inspired by that tour, also.

Ok, I will act as your enabler. I think the magazine rack needs to stay there. πŸ˜€ You are really getting to be quite the ASCP expert. Proud of you. Those two pieces look great! xxoo

Love your makeovers Shirley! Your magazine rack looks like it was a challenge to paint with all those spindles, I’d have a hard time parting with it! Glad your Mother’s Day was happy πŸ™‚

I would do the same thing as you and paint those pieces. It immediately gave them a great look! I bet they’ll sell quickly. I have a lot of items stored in the basement that I usually end up taking to a consignment store if I’m done using them. If I had a booth, I would do what you’re doing. What a great way to recycle things and make money at the same time.
