Our leaves were very slow to turn.
We had a very rainy summer…so we thought the leaves would not be as brilliant this year.
But then overnight they seemed to burst into beautiful color..
Got up “early” to watch the sunrise…and this is what it looked like from my back porch…
The temps are very brisk today…
Fall is a beautiful time of year to celebrate family….
…..as we gather together to give thanks.
Whether we gather at the table…
Or outdoors enjoying the beautiful fall leaves….
Or gather in the great room in front of the fire…
To welcome family and friends…
And spending time with our adorable “sweetie”…
Who can also be adorably scary!..
My dad always said that Thanksgiving was his very favorite time of year…
As “We Gather Together”…to give thanks…for the many blessings we have…
…..especially of family.
He always could not stress enough to us kids that family was one of the most important things in life…
…..to cherish.
I remember the day when my “sweetie” was a pre-schooler and was sooo excited to give this to me…
…..her beautiful pine cone turkey that she made.
My heart melts every time I see this…it remains out all year…for me to enjoy…and make me smile.
And on this note….
I am joining 25 wonderful fellow bloggers…
…..to celebrate being “THANKFUL AT HOME”.

I am joining:

Hi, Shirley: Love your pics of the backyard, the corner garden and the stacked pumpkins. It was so beautiful on Friday here, and you are right. Overnight and the woods were on fire with color. I’m sorry Mel missed it, being at the FSU-Miami game in Tallahassee. Now my yard is covered with leaves. The ebb and flow of life…it’s so grand.
Beautiful post, Shirley! Thank you!

I think fall is my favorite season…the changing colors, the cooler temps, the smells, crunching leaves, cozy fire, but most of all being thankful for family and our many blessings. Beautiful decorations, photos and memories you have shared, Shirley.
Everything is beautiful Shirley!
