Christmas 2013 in the Sunroom

Where has the time gone?!!

By now I would be well on my way of holiday decorating and preparations.

However, lagging behind this year ~ ~

~ ~ So I have become comfortable in the fact that I am scaling down this year…

Or as “scaled down” as I get :).

I finished the sunroom today.

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

I recently purchased an area rug from Ikea for this room

~ ~ a temporary item until I find the “one”

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

I am sure many of you have seen my sneak peeks of some items in this room ~ as this tree.

~ ~ with the vintage quilted Snowman Patriotic Star.

A flocked tree was in this space last year ~ miss the beautiful tree, but not the mess!

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

The grapevine and cotton wreath was in another room last year..

~ ~ thought it would be fine in this room this year with a more rustic feel.

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

Scales are such great platforms for any type of item. .

~ ~ and can’t forget to have bird in the vignette ~ nesting in a Charleston basket gifted from a friend.

The scale ~

My new addition to the room – A vintage bird cage..

~ ~ it is in great shape..just needs a little facelift.

It looks as though the original color was blue from the paint flaking off.

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

I originally just had the Santa and the two trees in this “vignette” but I just couldn’t leave it alone!

~ ~ I added some stems of felted holly to give it a punch of color.

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

I always had Yankee candles burning in my home . .

~ ~ one year, my son bought me this Yankee Candle Byers Choice Caroler 🙂

Christmas 2013

Along with the caroler, there is a carousel horse ornament set from 1989 ~

~ ~ that my granddaughter still plays with. ~ Added faux pine stems to the cotton arrangement.

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

Can’t have enough birds!

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

And when you have lots of birds around ~ ~ it is only right to have a bird’s nest fern in the room!

~ ~ I purchased this great crock from Kristen. I originally was going to gift it, but decided to keep it! 🙂

Oh and by the way when I bought this rug at Ikea, Kristen’s mom Linda, was with me.

~ ~ we were there buying fabric and other things. She is doing a project for me ~ Stay tuned.

Christmas 2013 Sunroom

Years and years ago . . when I lived in North Central Florida . .

~ ~ my sisters and I would make our annual trek to the McIntosh Fall Craft Fair..it is always a great fair.

There was a vendor there that I would buy all my cute vintage quilt items from.

I looked forward to that booth every year!

A couple of my large Hallmark collection of cars and trucks ..

~ ~ I love that some of them have Christmas trees in them.

And if you would like to see a “Mini Christmas Tour” of my house . . .

Please hop on over to 11 Magnolia Lane . . . where the lovely ladies there are featuring me today!!!

Your sunroom is one of my favorite rooms in your home, and it looks so pretty in Christmas finery.

Day two of my holiday home tour is now posted. I do hope you will come by for a visit.♥ Yesterday was the outside front of our house and porch, and today is the foyer, stairway and landing.

I am loving your sunroom! I don’t have good natural light in my home and I miss that so….much! I have a Vitamin D deficiency going on because of it. Your sunroom is so lovely, full of light and I love those window coverings, and all the Christmas decor is so lovely.
    Thanks for sharing.

I love the use of rustic decorations in your sunroom! I’m a big fan of cotton branches too, so I love how you incorporated them into your Christmas decor. The old birdcage you found looks like it’s right at home in your sunroom. That is the perfect accessory for a room like that.

Wow. You are so talented. Your home is Christmas, all the way. I haven’t seen that very cool bird cage, it is so awesome and looks nice in the sunroom. Your blog just fills me with the spirit of Christmas, and the reason for the season.

Your sun room looks so festive Shirley, I could spend all my time there! I have hanging scale envy and would love Santa to put on on his sleigh for me 🙂 I know what you mean about the time, Thanksgiving being late put me behind. I’ve always thought it should be the 3rd Thursday in November instead of the 4th. Keep Calm and Decorate On!

Your sunroom is my favorite room in your home Shirley. So bright and cheerful!

It seems like everyone is behind on their decorating this year, so you’re in good company.

Even scaled down you have much more out than I, but that means I don’t have as much to put away! Are you going to put a bird in your cage. One would like it in your home.

It looks so pretty, Shirley!I always look forward to seeing what you are creating.

We had a moment of madness and got a real tree for J’s lodge, yesterday. He is like a kid in a candy store! He happily discovered his sort of aged bubble lights and even happier discovered they all work. So that is our current Christmas project, a real tree downstairs, as we sniffle through the season.:-)

I always LOVE seeing your sunroom. Sometimes it makes me want to change my “morning room”/sunroom to something like this. I love the scales too. Tomorrow I am posting a new table and you will probably like it as it features BIRDS!!!:):) I got alot of my decorations at craft fairs, many years ago. I wish SO much they would change the date of Thanksgiving and give us a longer Christmas season!!! Let’s start a campaign!!!
