Vintage French Scale, A Centuries Old French Stock Pot and More French Treasures

I love scales . .

When I spotted this scale at a very large Antique shop in France . .

I knew it had to come home with me . .

~ ~ or should I say, it had to be added to the stash going in the container!

However, as most of you know, there was much more than a scale that was shipped home.

Before I start with the pics, I want to thank everyone for your birthday wishes.

~ ~ I spent my birthday with my family . . always a good one spent with your loved ones!

The vintage scale and centuries old stock pot.

The stock pot has an incredible pewter lid.

It also has an inner lid in which the antique shop owner said was rare for it to have “survived”

I placed my pitcher of silver spoons on the other side of the scale.

Love that I can showcase both the scale and the stock pot together.

How can you not leave France and purchase the wonderful Herbs de Provence ~

I actually bought this at the airport as we were departing.

Then there are the cute glass yogurt cups ~ ~ We ate our yogurt each morning . .

~ ~ ~ and saved our containers! ~ ~ Oh those tourists!!!

A bit of Rosemary and Olive Oil ~ ~

For my birthday, my friend Barbara filled a vase filled with Rosemary…

~ ~ and attached a gift card to my favorite garden center.

So I replaced the Christmas trees with the most fragrant Rosemary.

We all purchased the Olive Oil at the airport before departing too.

I actually did most of my souvenir shopping at the Paris airport. 🙂

I bought 3 French Jam Jars ~ ~ love them.

Waiting for an epiphany for a creative use for them.

My “French Antique Kitchenwares Vignette” ~ ~ and more French kitchen items to share soon.

~ ~ and the only space that there are no Christmas decorations!

Working on doing that this week ~ ~ and next ~ ~ and next!

Have a wonderful day!!

Ooh, I love the scale and stock pot, Shirley. I think that’s my favorite scale of all I have seen across blog land. And herbes de provence is my go-to herb mix for most chicken dishes. Good on pork, too. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your goodies. 🙂

I love how the white of the scale base works so well with the other white pieces you have displayed, Shirley! That is a great looking scale. Glass yogurt containers? If we had those here I’d be saving all of mine! As it is, I do save the plastic ones for holding paint.

I have a couple of those little jam jars, too. I actually use them for votives. Hope you have a grand rest of the day. We are at 45 BELOW ZERO here with wind chill. Wow, the scale was worth waiting for….I don’t think I could have passed it up either. I saw one the other day that hangs from the ceiling and it drew me right in, until I saw a two hundred dollar price tag. That kind of stopped me….LOL I hope you enjoy yours and the memories it evokes for a long time!

What a great vignette to warm the inside of your home during these winter months…although I don’t know how cold it really is there. I hear it has been cooler than usual. At any rate, this is beautiful, and I love the scale and stock pot! The pitchers filled with rosemary give me a great idea of what to do with rosemary toward the end of the season around here. I occasionally will have some leftover. Of course, here in the Midwest it only grows seasonally and then dies off unless you want to try to dig it up and haul it in and find a super sunny spot for it to live over the winter months. Uh….no. I’ll just give it a good haircut and enjoy the fronds while I can in a pretty pitcher! 🙂

Great…this is more inspiration for me to get all this Christmas stuff down and get started making our home feel like just plain ol’ winter again.

Shirley, all of your French kitchen finds are exquisite!! The scale is amazing (and those jam jars would make the best little bud vases or votive holders!) The rosemary looks wonderful in your pitcher, too-such a thoughtful gift!
Happy belated birthday, and Happy 2014 🙂

Hi Shirley. I’m a new follower via Bloglovin’. Your French kitchen vignette is delightful. I have that same olive oil bottle on my kitchen counter. I bought the olive oil 8 or 9 years ago basically because I wanted that bottle! LOL. I host Every Room In The House, a month-long blog party at A Joyful Cottage. This month we’re partying in The Kitchen, and I would love it if you’d come and share your vignette. Here’s the link:http://www.ajoyfulcottage.com/2014/01/every-room-in-house-party-1.html

I love the use of Rosemary in a pitcher, what a great idea! Since I have such huge rosemary in the front yard, I’m going to fix something today. I love the smell of Rosemary. The french scale is very cool and a beautiful addition to your kitchen. What a great idea to put silver spoons in a pitcher to equal out the other side of the scale. Your ideas are just endless! Loved every pic. BTW, finally got my email fixed. Love, Pam
