Potting Bench Makeover

A year ago, I created a potting bench area on the lower porch of my home.

You can view last year’s potting bench here.

It looked like this:

A vintage enamel top table that I added a skirt to . . .

~ ~ and placed a garden bench on the table as a “shelf unit”.

After a year, the skirt was looking a little sad and needed to be replaced.

So off to the fabric store I go . . .

~ ~ to get a “happy fabric”.

My potting bench . . . A place where I can fill my flower pots with pretty plants.

A place where I can store all my planting materials . . .

~ ~ neatly stored behind the gathered skirt.

A garden bench that was given to me by my sister many years ago . . .

~ ~ she found it at craft fair and knew I would love it . . .

~ ~ ~ ~ as the back had beautifully painted birdhouses.

The chair seat received a new pot of flowers . .

This potting bench and outdoor grill area is under the pergola . . .

Veranda

Where you can also have a view of this . . .

Hydrangeas

and these . . . one of my hydrangeas just starting to produce flowers . . .

I am ready now to get the veranda into shape with the help of my potting bench.

Hope you have a beautiful day among the flowers you love!

Hi Shirley, So pretty and tranquil, would love to sit a spell and have a nice cold glass of ice tea (un-sweet with lemon). You inspire me to get outside an commune with nature. Enjoy your space and have a wonderful day.

That looks so nice. I like the idea of using fabric to cover the underside of the table. Do you use a special outdoor fabric? I don’t have a potting bench set up. I just store everything in our garage and plant things in the area that they’ll be used. Having a potting bench probably makes it a lot easier!

Very cute- love the skirting. It’s a cute little nook area and the potted chair is adorable. I’m going to share the netting idea with a friend who struggles with deer eating her flowers and such.

What a beautiful view you have from your front porch WOW. I would be in the rocking chair with a sweet tea looking at your view. The potting table looks really good and love the fabric – good choice.
Shirley, you have a beautiful home inside and out. How did Sweetie’s room turn out – bet she feels so good at having her own space at your house.
    Have a terrific week.

Love the fabric you chose for the skirt, Shirley! Your potting bench is great. I always wanted one and probably would have gotten one if we hadn’t moved. I had a nice long patio at our old house that it would have been a nice addition, plus I figure it would have come in handy during BBQ’s to hold food or drinks.

I just love your potting table/area, your porch and your yard! You are a hard worker to have it all looking so beautiful. I have a table like yours, that used to belong to my parents. I do believe it is going to be my next project. We have allowed the cats to eat off of it and it is almost ruined. Time to take it back! Have a great week!

BTW, I think I’m going to need to get some deer netting. For the first time ever, they’re eating my hydrangeas! I know you can empathize with my frustration!!!!!

I remember this potting bench, and I still wish I could have one! Our HOA frowns upon “outbuildings of any proportion, make, or model” so I probably won’t ever be able to. Oh, well, I can live through you!

Your outdoor area is always a breath of fresh air! Such pretty views all around! I love it that you actually have the Boston ferns hanging from the porch ceiling & rocking chairs as all of us Midwesterners envision that Southerners do! Well, of COURSE, you do! Where else on earth would you fan yourself, have a conniption fit, and sip your sweet tea? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Beautiful, Shirley! Enjoy it all!!!
