Americana Sunflower Centerpiece

I started out by doing a typical “Red White and Blue” centerpiece for the table . .

~ ~ but I thought for a minute ~~ and changed my mind ~~ oh, the mind is a dangerous thing!

Wanted to do something a bit different. . . so I scoured the house, looking for inspiration.

I found some inspiration in my laundry room ~~ go figure!

Sunflower Centerpiece

Sunflower Centerpiece

I have an enamelware bowl and pitcher that resides in my laundry room . . .

~ ~ thought I would give it a change of scenery.

Sunflowers in Vintage Enamelware Bowl and Pitcher

Sunflowers/Vintage Enamelware Bowl and Pitcher

Placed the bowl and pitcher on a vintage blue and white tea towel.

~ ~ I purchased the bowl and pitcher separately many years ago.

Found the blue and white swirled bowl in Iowa when visiting about 30 years ago.

Folk Art Uncle Sam Bunny

Added my Folk Art Uncle Sam Bunny to the centerpiece . .

Folk Art Uncle Sam Bunny

Added another “Uncle Sam” that is made out of clay.

~ ~ I purchased both of these at a “Country Living” Craft show many years ago in Florida.

Americana Centerpiece

A simple Americana Centerpiece for the summer table. . .

Antique Split Oak Bench

Added a touch of “Americana” to the bench with a red and white ticking quilt . . .

~ ~ and a Pottery Barn flag pillow.

Antique Split Oak Bench

I purchased the small quilt at Cracker Barrel many years ago!

~ ~ I used it as a table cloth in my former breakfast room.

Antique Split Oak Bench

Americana in the Dining Room

As some of you may remember . . .

~ ~ I purchased the Antique Split Oak Bench at the Country Living Fair in Atlanta last year.

Americana Centerpiece

I feel as though this centerpiece can carry me through the entire month . . .

~ ~ well, I may have to replenish the sunflowers from time to time.

OMG…great minds and close friends think alike. I love sunflowers with red, white and blue. I have a bouquet of them in that patriotic pitcher I bought years ago on my kitchen island. I bought you one, too. Do you remember? Oh, and draped on my great room chair is the same patriotic quilt I bought mine at Tuesday Morning in Pembroke Pines. I reversed it just like you did so only the red and white stripe side shows. Have you been peeking in my window? I wish, me friend.

Yes, ma’am! Yes, ma’am! Yes, ma’am!!! That’s the way to do it! Shop that house! You know as much “stuff” as we have, there has almost always got to be the “perfect” thing for whatever we have in mind…or for whatever we’re trying to bring to mind! Enamel ware is so Americana, and the sunflowers (my next-door-neighbor Kansas’s state flower!)and flag just make it more so! Same thing goes for the bench with that ticking quilt. Geez, woman…that’s about as Americana as it comes!

    Beautiful, Shirley!
