A few weeks ago, I presented my great ironstone finds.
I found four salad plates and bowls and later discovered that they matched a tureen I found . . .
~ ~ at another antique shop!
I placed these plates and bowls in an antique tool caddy . . .
~ ~ then placed that caddy on the dining room table.
As I was placing my ironstone in the caddy . . .
~ ~ I remembered that I had purchased a pretty soup tureen lid while antiquing in Tennessee.
Hmmmm….could that be the start of another collection?!!
By the beautiful looks of the lid, I can only imagine how wonderful the entire tureen was.
~ ~ maybe one day I will find the other piece!
Initially, I just placed stems of lavender in the caddy along with the ironstone . . .
On a trip to Trader Joe’s to buy some sunflowers, I saw these gorgeous roses for $4.99 . . .
~ ~ so off in the cart they went.
They initially went into a crystal vase . . .
~ ~ but I thought how great they would look in the antique tool caddy on the dining room table.
I love the combination of the lavender and roses . . . Hmmm Lavender and Roses . . .
~ ~ sounds like a great band!
My goal is to dry these roses as they are in the caddy.
I then realized that I have lavender throughout the great room too . . .
In bowls and urns . . .
In vignettes with ironstone . . . that I previously posted.
I so love the beauty of lavender and the smell is a bonus!!!
Wishing you all a most wonderful weekend filled with the things you love to do . . .
~ ~ with the ones you love!!!

It’s a beautiful vignette, Shirley. I love the pattern and color of the lid. I never think about picking those up. Lots of potential in lids!
Enjoy your weekend!
I’m in love with these beautiful displays…the wonderful green tool caddy mixed with white ironstone and beautiful roses. Love the way you’ve sprinkled lavender around in all its lovely forms. Mixing it with the roses is stunning!!

Yep, looks like the start of another collection to me!
I love the lavender in a bowl. I have some and I wasn’t really sure what to do with it and now you have given me a great idea! Oh and seeing your flowers and the great prices I am now counting the days till we get a Trader Joe’s!!!
So pretty Shirley. I love the domination of the lavender with the roses. Pretty lid too. Hope you find the rest some day!
:o)

I bet your house smells wonderful. I have a lavender filled pillow I bought in Provence 10 years ago and it still smells lovely.
What a beautiful vignette, Shirley! The roses are so pretty mixed with the lavender. I am sure the scent is amazing. The soup tureen lid looks great against the caddy!
Beautiful Shirley Just Beautiful!!

I love the smell of lavender too. It’s so clean smelling. Love how pretty your light yellow roses are in that pretty green caddy. Such a pretty mix.
I just started growing lavender this year and hope to expand next year. It’s such a wonderful fragrance, and you can’t beat it for decorating and cooking! I was truly surprised at the number of varieties available!!! I hope I got the right kind!!!
That caddy is so cool. Funny how something so old and beat up and utilitarian in nature can bring us such ethereal joy. I have an old one that isn’t painted. It has been a part of our hallway guest bath decor for as long as we’ve lived here. I need to find another spot for it and use it in a different way. I love how you’ve used it here. Neat idea to include the tureen lid!!
Beautiful vignette, Shirley. I also love lavender and have numerous bushes of different varieties.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend also with your family.

I will be harvesting my lavender soon. Love your wee arrangements. Have a glorious weekend!!
What a gorgeous vignette. Love my lavender, you know that and what a great new thing to collect. I grew so much in the old house and it never did great, I think it was too far away to be taking care of a bit. By the time I got it every season, to late to harvest. Great to have a huge yard but it was bad because I missed enjoying things that I love because it was too large.

I love that lid! Lavender is my favorite flower. I would love to own a lavender farm. Your lavender and roses look pretty together.
I hope you find the matching tureen! I imagine that it is beautiful…and it is a great match to your painted wooden caddy!
I have yet to spot a tureen that I want to invest in. Maybe one of these days! Ha!
Everything you touch becomes beautiful in your artful display.
Have a great weekend!

Shirley, what a lovely vignette! I love everything about this display- the lavender, roses, ironstone and tool caddy! Have a wonderful weekend!
Ingenious. Wish I could picture things the way you do. I love lavender and with the white roses, wow!
Beautiful, everything! Love that tool caddy. Joe has a real old one in the basement that was his unckles. I have always wanted to try it, now I will!!! Wish I had some lavender!!!
Such romantic looking vignettes, Shirley! I love the tool caddy you dressed up. That tureen lid is just gorgeous! I am in love with that color transferware. It looks like it would match the Duck Egg color I have in our master bedroom. I haven’t seen any tureen lids when I’m out and about although I think they would be a great idea to use on my dining room wall instead of plates. I love how Yvonne’s at Stone Gable’s looks.
I have tool caddy envy Shirley and your tureen lid is a thing of beauty!
So lovely. My lavender didn’t make it through Michigan’s tough winter last year. New plants are in the ground — hopefully they’ll take off like the other did!
I found myself inhaling deeply, imagining the fragrance. Happy new week Shirley!
Hugs, Gee
Shirley, do you dry your own lavender? Is there an easy way to dry it? thanks
At this moment I am going to do my breakfast, once having my
breakfast coming yet again to read other
news.
