Layering Vintage Items and Travel Tidbits

I took a bit of a break . . .

My hubby had a tournament in Las Vegas . . .

get-attachment-28.aspx

Like “little boys” anxiously waiting for this game to end . . .

~ ~ so they can “play” . . . (hubby is standing on the far right) a gorgeous night in Vegas.

Thanks to my friend Claudia for taking this great pic!

We decided to take a few extra days before the tournament . . .

~ ~ to travel to Sedona, Arizona and the Grand Canyon.

It was our very first time visiting these places and they surely did not disappoint.

get-attachment-19.aspx

Pictures cannot capture the beauty of the areas we visited.

When we first drove into the town of Sedona . . .

~ ~ our jaws literally dropped. I have seen pictures . . .

~ ~ ~ ~ however, you know the saying how pictures truly never do anything justice.

We stayed at the gorgeous Enchantment Resort in Sedona . . . and it was truly enchanting!

When the “bellman on the golf cart” took us to our “casita” . . .

~ ~ opened the door . . . and this is what we first saw . . .

get-attachment-23.aspx

A bed of roses . . . and robes at the foot of the bed . . .

~ ~ would make any girl happy!

get-attachment-21.aspx

That next morning, I enjoyed my coffee in front of the fire in our room. . .

~ ~ talk about what a way to start the day.

A little more of this room later . . .

In the meantime, after breakfast we started the day with this:

get-attachment-22.aspx

A “Broken Arrow” Pink Jeep tour of the canyons…it was soooo much fun!…

Mainly in the Oak Creek Canyon . . . the canyon made famous by the many “Western movies” . . .

~ ~ we could feel the spirit of John Wayne there!

When we travel, we take our granddaughter’s “Flat Stanley” with us . . .

~ ~ Oddie, a Moshi Monster.

Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, AZ

Here he is with us on the Pink Jeep Tour . . . Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, AZ.

And he braved the “Big Canyon” . . .

The Grand Canyon

Oddie braving hanging on a branch over the Grand Canyon.

We took a 10 hour “Pink Jeep” tour to the Canyon….it was awesome!

I promised my hubby that I would refrain from doing much “social media” on our trip.

To enjoy every minute and take in the views and experience. . .

~ ~ so I was a bit absent from my blog . . but did manage to sneak a few Instagram moments!

Prior to us leaving on the trip . . . most of you know that Kim and Mary Alice came to visit . .

~ ~ I showed you all one thing that Mary Alice presented to me . . .

~ ~ ~ ~ that is in my newly madeover bedroom.

Mary Alice brought me two more fabulous French vintage items.

Love this beautiful French linen monogrammed towel.

I thought that it would be great to soften the texture of the ironstone and vintage stool.

And how can you not get giddy over this fabulous French bread board!!!

Again, I thought by placing it under the ironstone, it would lend to added texture and color.

Thanks Mary Alice!!!

And . . . what a way to end our trip by a little surprise at the airport.

get-attachment-27.aspx

Our son left at 6 a.m. (we flew the red eye) to pick us up at the airport . . .

~ ~ our granddaughter did not have school that day, so she got up at the crack of dawn . . .

~ ~ ~ ~ as she wanted to “welcome us home” . . . talk about being the highlight of our trip!!!

No majestic mountains, canyons, or fabulous resorts can top that!!!

I have a busy week of catching up and hosting my sewing group and another round of company!

Hope your week is developing into a great one too!

There’s nothing like Sedona. It’s just gorgeous, and what a fancy room you all stayed in. Wow. The pictures are just awe inspiring! Sounds like you got the most out of the area with that long tour. Gray is really getting tall. I know that was really special seeing them at the airport. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

That trip is on my travel list of places we want to visit. Slowly but surely getting through this list. We are off to New York city next week to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. First time there and we are excited. Have a great week.

When we arrived in Sedona it was late at night. The next morning when I opened the curtains the view took my breath away. The colors in the rock are so fabulous. We took our then 9yr old grandson with us to the Grand Canyon. We stayed in the Railroad Hotel and took the antique train to the Grand Canyon. Our grandson loved the cowboys. I bet your granddaughter would love that too.

Glad you enjoyed The Enchantment Resort as much as we did. It is definitely one of our favorite destinations EVER. And we hope that the Pink Jeep tour was as much fun for you as it was for Jeff and I and that Tom did not sustain any pregame injuries from it. LOL. Great picture of “the boys”. Almost looks like a Rockwell. How did they do in the tournament?

Ooh what a fun trip! I agree that pictures can’t capture the full depth and feeling of the Grand Canyon or any of those mountainous areas! The jeep ride must’ve been a lot of fun- I can feel my toes curling! The photos with Oddie are too cute- I bet your granddaughter love them! I haven’t seen Sedona but would love to. Your room looked so classic for the area- I bet you just loved it. I think it’s great that your husband is involved with a sport like that- I hope they had great fun!

There are two types of people: those that have been to Sedona, and those that WANT to visit Sedona. I’m the later. Can’t wait to get my paws on an RV and maybe get out there.

In that picture of you by the Jeep, you look so cute and happy! Almost as cute as your granddaughter ;). And how sweet that she got up early to greet you. Clearly, she loves her grandma!

Looks like a great trip, Shirley! We took the girls to the Grand Canyon when they were in elementary school. It’s a fabulous sight! Arizona is a beautiful state; and we enjoy visiting Phoenix. It has beautiful resorts. Love your pretty vignettes! Those are lovely treasures!

I am so glad you had such a good time, Shirley. I have not been out west in many years and when I was last there Sedona was still a small sleepy little place.
I forget what a cute little thing you are until I see you standing next to your hubby. LOL
The best part of the trip-is coming home to the granddaughter. I know that feeling well.
    Happy Homecoming. xo Diana

ps. That gift is FANTASTIC! Glad you girls had a good time!

My friends have told me about the pink jeep tour. I was warned that I probably wouldn’t like it with all the twists and the switchbacks in the road but, who knows if I ever get there I may get brave! That part of the country is really beautiful. Pictures don’t do it justice. Glad you had a wonderful time.
