I have always liked to use things for other than its “intended purpose”.
At one of the estate sales recently, I was able to get this pretty soup tureen for $5.00.
I do not believe it is old . . . and cannot make out the “made in impression” on the bottom.
Looks like “France” but cannot be certain.
When I did some re-arranging of items in the kitchen . . .
~ ~ ~ ~ I had an epiphany!…..Love epiphanies!
An epiphany on “how to create a phone charging station”.
I decided to place the soup tureen in this area of the kitchen . . .
~ ~ where I had a grouping of pretty covered glass containers.
I had replaced a crystal fruit bowl with a beautiful scalloped ironstone bowl . . .
~ ~ which was a recent find in West Virginia.
I then decided to replace the covered glass containers with books and ironstone.
However, still keeping an item “that makes me smile” . . .
~ ~ a photo of my granddaughter years ago helping me bake.
I removed the ladle from the soup tureen . . .
The end of my kitchen counter always looked like this . . .
~ ~ a mess of phone charging cords.
It was then I had my “epiphany” . . .
~ ~ I could put my phone and charging cords inside the soup tureen.
And the opening for the ladle allows the cord to be plugged into the outlet.
Ta da . . . no more cord mess on the counter!
So now my newly created kitchen vignette will stay phone charger cord clutter free. . . .
~ ~ ~ with my soup tureen charging station!!!
So, do you use items for “unintended purposes” ? ?
Intended or unintended . . . hope your day is a happy one!!!!

What a clever idea, Shirley! Your ironstone collection is so pretty! You always have the nicest vignettes! When I had a booth, I turned a bread box into a charging station using a surge protector. It sold so I guess someone liked the idea.
Aren’t you the clever girl? It takes a little imagination to use things for unintended purposes, and you have plenty of that. Wish you had been with me Friday when I stopped at every antique shop between Rockport in Augusta.
Great idea you smart one!
Absolute genius! Don’t we all hate cords?
Ok this is so clever and wonderful! I got a soup tureen for a wedding gift over 4 years ago and I have yet to use it and this would be perfect because it is so pretty I can have it out on the counter. Great idea just love it and your granddaughter is adorable.
Shirley, this is brilliant!! I wonder if I could get Mr. CC to keep his charging paraphernalia in something like that. π
And I adore the photo of your granddaughter…my eye went straight to her…so cute!

What a great idea. I am loving white dishes etc. They make everything look good.
Very clever! A great use for a decorative piece on the counter….
I love epiphanies and this one is a dandy!!
Soup to nuts, this is brilliant!
That’s a super cute idea! Love these mobil devices except for the cords for charging! I love inspiring ideas like this!
Well, that’s using your “noggin”!! LOL!!! Wonderful idea! I think I’m gong to have to try this one!!!! Have a wonderful day!!~~Ang
Shirley….love it. Well, I love the touren no matter what you put in it. Also, if you have a spill on the countertop…your device is still dry. I may have to copy this idea! π
Have a great one!
Sheila
Love that idea! The opening for the ladle is perfect for the cord and then you can still put the lid on. We use a small basket for ours, but you can still see what’s inside.
What a clever idea! Looks so great. Thanks for the great tip.
What a clever idea….such a beautiful vignette!!! I might have to borrow this idea since that is where I charge my phone too.
Have a great week!!!

Such a creative idea to hide those awful cords. I just hate looking at cords, so this works beautifully.
Brilliant idea! Today is organization – Monday! Maybe I’ll give this a try!
Absolutely brilliant. I will be looking for something similar to use, and copy your idea, one of many! Thx.
You cleaver lady – that is such a good idea. Fortunately my cell phone and Kindel can use the same charger.
Thanks for this great idea!
Mary
This made me smile, Shirley! Love finding practical purposes for pretty things — kudos to you!
xo Heidi
This is awesome Shirley. I am always trying to find a way to hide my phone on the charger in my kitchen. Great idea.
Kris
I am SO doiIng this!!! I keep my phone on the counter to charge too and hadn’t thought to do this! I even have a Fall soup tureen!!! Thanks for the idea, I am stealing it right now:):) I love the whole vignette!!!!! YOu are such a wonderful decorator, Shirley!!!
You are very clever! What a great way to hid those cords and look beautiful at the same time!
Shirley, You are so smart! What a great way to hide the phone and charger. LOVE it! I like your counter top vignette, too.
Shirley that is an awesome idea!! Your counter top looks so pretty!
Fantastic idea Shirley…great repurpose! And, you can keep the cord in the tureen, even when it’s not charging! π
Ooh, brilliant idea, Shirley! I love the scalloped bowl, too.
LOL- LOVE it, Shirley! I have my own inside a “birdhouse with a door that opens. lol I don’t like cords hanging out all over either…but the tureen is BRILLIANT! lol xo Diana
That’s a great idea, Shirley! I have an old bread box I converted into my charging station…it’s big enough for my iPad so that’s a plus. Love the picture of your granddaughter. too cute!
I received my book today! I’m so excited…I can’t wait to sit down and really look through it. The sneak peek I had was wonderful. Thank you, thank you!
hugs,
Cecilia
What a great idea! That is too cute!
So clever Shirley and much prettier using your new tureen to charge your phone π
You are a smart one!!! What a brilliant idea! You always know how to keep things so so pretty!
Clever, clever, clever, indeed !! I just might have to do this, too !! Thanks for sharing, friend. π
Shirley, I will never look at a soup tureen in the same way as I did before I saw your genius idea for repurposing!Right now I’m looking at my phone and its charging cord, hoping something strikes me today! And I always love to see photos of your precious granddaughter!
What a clever idea. I have added to my new uses for old things board on pinterest. I invite you to share at the Thursday hop this week. xoxo
What a clever idea!! Love it! I keep my charger cord folded and hidden in a toilet paper roll covered with contact paper. Of course while it is charging you can see the cord, but when not in use, it is tucked away in a cute basket on top of my satellite receiver along with my cord to my camera (so I can upload pics to my computer).Hidden in plain sight.
That’s a cute idea! But don’t leave it plugged into the wall when you unplug your phone. Friends connector caught on fire. Good thing they were home at the time. Thanks for coming by and commenting on those cute slippers.
That is brilliant! everything looks so pretty and now your counter will stay beautiful thanks to your genius idea!
That is brilliant, Shirley. What a clever and pretty way to create a charging station!
You are too clever! I do get tired of tablet and phone chargers in the kitchen.
Love the charger pot!!!
Now THAT’S usin’ the ol’ noodle!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a clever and pretty idea!! I love the whole new vignette!
Love this idea. Very clever!
Good way to hide those ugly cables… LOL…
What a wonderful idea! I have mine at my Butler’s pantry behind a picture on an easel. It’s not ideal. I need to do this! My mom was going to give me her English Ironstone tureen but I told her not to (she keeps trying to give me things as if she is going to pass away soon!). I don’t think she would want me to use the tureen for my phone, though! LOL.
