How to Create a Pretty Phone Charging Station

I have always liked to use things for other than its “intended purpose”.

At one of the estate sales recently, I was able to get this pretty soup tureen for $5.00.

I do not believe it is old . . . and cannot make out the “made in impression” on the bottom.

Looks like “France” but cannot be certain.

When I did some re-arranging of items in the kitchen . . .

~ ~ ~ ~ I had an epiphany!…..Love epiphanies!

An epiphany on “how to create a phone charging station”.

I decided to place the soup tureen in this area of the kitchen . . .

~ ~ where I had a grouping of pretty covered glass containers.

DSC_7183

I had replaced a crystal fruit bowl with a beautiful scalloped ironstone bowl . . .

~ ~ which was a recent find in West Virginia.

I then decided to replace the covered glass containers with books and ironstone.

However, still keeping an item “that makes me smile” . . .

~ ~ a photo of my granddaughter years ago helping me bake.

DSC_7186

I removed the ladle from the soup tureen . . .

DSC_7187

The end of my kitchen counter always looked like this . . .

~ ~ a mess of phone charging cords.

It was then I had my “epiphany” . . .

~ ~ I could put my phone and charging cords inside the soup tureen.

DSC_7188

And the opening for the ladle allows the cord to be plugged into the outlet.

Ta da . . . no more cord mess on the counter!

So now my newly created kitchen vignette will stay phone charger cord clutter free. . . .

So, do you use items for “unintended purposes” ? ?

Intended or unintended . . . hope your day is a happy one!!!!

What a clever idea, Shirley! Your ironstone collection is so pretty! You always have the nicest vignettes! When I had a booth, I turned a bread box into a charging station using a surge protector. It sold so I guess someone liked the idea.

Aren’t you the clever girl? It takes a little imagination to use things for unintended purposes, and you have plenty of that. Wish you had been with me Friday when I stopped at every antique shop between Rockport in Augusta.

Ok this is so clever and wonderful! I got a soup tureen for a wedding gift over 4 years ago and I have yet to use it and this would be perfect because it is so pretty I can have it out on the counter. Great idea just love it and your granddaughter is adorable.

Love that idea! The opening for the ladle is perfect for the cord and then you can still put the lid on. We use a small basket for ours, but you can still see what’s inside.

What a clever idea!! Love it! I keep my charger cord folded and hidden in a toilet paper roll covered with contact paper. Of course while it is charging you can see the cord, but when not in use, it is tucked away in a cute basket on top of my satellite receiver along with my cord to my camera (so I can upload pics to my computer).Hidden in plain sight.

What a wonderful idea! I have mine at my Butler’s pantry behind a picture on an easel. It’s not ideal. I need to do this! My mom was going to give me her English Ironstone tureen but I told her not to (she keeps trying to give me things as if she is going to pass away soon!). I don’t think she would want me to use the tureen for my phone, though! LOL.
