I had a space on each side of the bay window area in my dining room that needed “attention”.
~ ~ wanting something different to hang in that space.
The narrow space logically would lend to hanging decorative plates.
However, there are many plates in my hutch and hanging more would just be too much.
Me, being me, wanted something different . . . something “architectural”.
Then these came into my life . . . delivered to my front door from the State of Virginia.
The perfect solution . . . and as you will see . . . the perfect height!
The colors in the many layers of paint were perfect.
Thanks to hubby for taking time out of his busy schedule to sand them for me!. . . .
~ ~ and hang them too!
You will notice the reflections of light on the wall from my Swarovski crystals in the window.
Note to self: Take the crystals down when photographing! π
I am so very happy with the new look in the room.
I am such a fan of adding architectural elements to enhance a space . . .
~ ~ whether it be new construction or vintage pieces such as these shutters.
As I gaze at the shutters . . . I think . . . hmmm . . . should I place something on the shutters?
I think my hubby was reading my mind as I stared at them . . .
~ ~ he gave me that look with a smile . . . I think that smile said . . Leave them alone!!!
Would you?….
Have a great day . . . I am off to the High Point Market with Kim.

I am joining:
Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday
French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday
They look great, Shirley, and are the perfect addition to your dining room. I vote for leaving them alone and not adding anything. Have fun at market! Wish I could join y’all there.
I think they are perfect as they are, I wouldn’t change a thing.
They are perfect Shirley. I absolutely love these shutters!
You are way too cute, Shirley!!! I have to say they really look good…perfect size and colors. I’m thinking I need to bring the other pair home from the shop. I know I can find a place for them. π
Mary Alice
Can you believe they FIT there? Wow- Those are perfect-just “rough” enough to be interesting and add a bit of “ageless” to that area. I don’t know if I would hang anything from them. If I did it would probably be just a rustic “handle” of some kind on that center bar…one with a drop bail that hung down. Whatever you do-they are GREAT! xo Diana
What a perfect fit! Love them.
Oh wow Shirley, those shutters are amazing and fit so perfectly! They were meant for that space in your home. I vote for leaving them alone, your hubby did a great job sanding them. Have a great time with Kim at High Point!
Hi Shirley, could this have been anymore perfect??? Love them just like this~ rustic, chippy and full of charm. NO need for anything more. Have fun at the market!
XO
Holy crow – those ARE perfect! Great idea Shirley!
Shirley these elements look great! I would not put anything on them at all.
xoxo

It;s like it was made for that exact spot….love it!
Wow, they are gorgeous!! I love them as they are. What a beautiful dining room — I had not seen it. So light and pretty!!
Love, Love, Love!
LOVE them! I wouldn’t change a thing……your breakfast room is so gorgoues!!!
Have a great week!!!

Don’t change a thing they look fabulous!!! They fit that space perfectly…they were waiting for the perfect home and they found it:-) Have fun with Kim!
Great idea! I am leaning toward leaving the shutters as they are, but if you decide to put something on them I am sure that they will be lovely. We are kindred spirits….yellow walls and white trim work!!! I had the same colors in our Georgian! And now I have them in our downsized house. Love everything that you do in your house!
Sheila
The doors do, indeed, fit the space perfectly making them a very lucky find. I am always drawn to old doors and windows being used for decorative purposes.
Shirley, your shutters are amazing! What great patina, and what a perfect fit!!
Susan
I wish things would show up on my doorstep from Virginia! π Yes, leave them alone. Tres’ chic!
Cheers!,
Barbara
I think they are perfect! I love all the layers of paint! They’re a great fit for this area too. Enjoy your time, with Kim, at High Point!
Hi Shirley,
Love the shutters! I would leave them alone. I think adding anything more would detract from them. I feel it would be too much to add anything. π
Blessings
I love them just as they are. I wouldn’t add anything else to them. Let the shutters be the focal point.
I love them just the way they are. They speak enough without adding anything else. Beautiful. I do love your pineapple chandelier!
Love ’em……yea, leave ’em alone for awhile; and then when the moment arises for color, ah, go ahead and embellish……….then when that moment arises again, take away and go naturale, after all, thats whats decorating all about…have a happy…
that looks really nice. I never would have thought of it! Great idea.
A perfect fit. Now leave them alone, my friend.
Hi Shirley! Oh, these looks great and I love your crystal reflections! Have a fun time with Kim!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia π
I love them just the way they are, but I would probably hang a wreath from them at Christmas. For that matter, any time of the year! They look great!! Have fun with Kim!!!
They’re beautiful “as is”, but if you’re looking to put something on them, maybe something in curvy wrought iron?
They are perfect as they are. It gives you more time to take in the beauty of the olden shutters.
Who was the wonderful person to delivery them to you? Hope you and Kim had a great time at the Antique Fair. Enjoy your week.
Mary
Those are so cool, Shirley! Beautiful texture and patina. And what a lovely dining room! Cheers, Loi
Love them, Shirley! I would have liked to find something like these when I was looking for the shutters I just got for our dining room. However, after thinking on what I wanted for a good year, I just didn’t want to wait and just got what I found in the size that would work. It would be great if one day I come across a nicer set, like yours, but for now I’m painting these up and will live with them.
Shirley this is fantastic!!! I love what it does to the space and the window. I’m going to start my hunt for an old shutter and narrow door.
Cindy
This is a surprise! I never would have thought that you would like shutters in your house, but WOW, they are perfect! I really love them and would let them be. The colors are fabulous. I love them where they are, a perfect fit for sure1!!!
Shirley, They look great. That was a great idea.
My mind is in a whirl thinking about shutters I could use now. I am replacing my outside shutters soon and plan to use one set on my porch. Now, I have more to think about.
Enjoy your weekend.
Love those old chippy shutters! I think they look best unadorned.
I love the shutters. But tell your husband I’m sorry but the first that went through my head was I wonder what she will hang on them!
They do look great! I’d leave them as is…but it is your home! π
The shutters look perfect in the space. They look great as they are, but I could see a wreath or evergreen swag hanging on them for Christmas.
Oh my gosh Shirley! These are perfect! I can’t believe how they absolutely fit in your space!
I love them as is, and I probably would leave them as is, but it can’t hurt to try putting something on them just to see how you like it.
The shutters are more gorgeous in person! They fit the space perfectly and I do think a little sconce would be pretty on each one, but they are stunning just the way they are.
How lucky of you to find those. They are PERFECT for that space. I am loving them just as they are right now without any additions.
The look perfect and add just the right amount of interest to that area!
Shelley
They couldn’t be any more perfect or beautiful! I would leave them alone, at least for a couple months π
How creative… Looks wonderful…
Love your handsome shutters Shirley! I think I would let them shine and stand alone π
I already told you that I love these and they’re perfect in your dining area, but I wanted to let you know that I’ll be featuring them at The Scoop on Monday night. Thank you for linking up!
The dining room looks more vintage and classic I love how it is placed. It is a great inspiration and it shows how you can combine the modern and classical designs in a perfect way.
