When I was a little girl, I had a problem with nose bleeds.
I would wake up in the middle of the night and my pillow would be stained
due to a nose bleed.
My dad would comfort me by singing . . . “You Are My Sunshine”
I shed a tear of joy when I hear that song and love to sing it to my grandchild.
My friend Linda’s hubby made me this beautiful sign.
It has a double meaning . . .
~ ~ of memories of my dad and also that my granddaughter’s name is Graylyn.
We most often call her “Gray”
I hung this in her room in my home . . . which is still undergoing a makeover.
She makes me happy when skies are “Gray”
Linda’s hubby makes these beautiful custom wood pallet signs at a cost of $65.00
(plus shipping if appropriate)
Should you be interested in having a custom wood pallet sign made please contact me . . .
On another note:
Are you experiencing the effects of the Polar Vortex?
It is cold here, but no snow . . .
~ ~ although I have been hearing bits of news of snow flurries in my surrounding area.
My niece lives in Evergreen, Colorado, where it was minus 5 there yesterday.
She sent me these pictures yesterday that she took from her back door.
Breathtaking right?…..So I guess you take the good with the bad . . .
~ ~ below freezing temps . . BAD! …… Breathtaking views ……. GOOD!
Another gorgeous view from her home . . .
She used to live in the same city as I do and was a professor at UNC . . .
~ ~ but she took the plunge and accepted a great position at another university in Colorado.
I wish you a great weekend, with most of you cozying up to the fire . . .
~ ~ and me? . . . I will be doing lots of Christmas decorating, which is so much better . .
~ ~ ~ ~ with the fire going!…

Cute sign! Those pics from Colorafo are breathtaking! No snow here, but very very cold for southern Wisconsin…fortunately we escaped the heavy snow…it’s too early for snow! ๐
It is freezing here in southcentral KY today. No snow. Reports of snow in Eastern KY yesterday, Thurs.
Love your sign! Sheila@mykentuckyliving.
What a wonderful sign…and a sweet way to be reminded of your Dad… It is 32 degrees here right now. It was 26 when we got up this morning. No snow here, but north of Asheville they had a little and you can see it on the mountain tops.

GREAT sign. My mother used to sing that song when we were little, too. And always added- I love you a bushel and a peck and a squeeze around the neck.
No snow here yet and while those photos are lovely I wish I didn’t have to deal with snow at all! Hope you have a great weekend, Shirley. Have fun decorating. xo Diana

I love it especially since it refers to Graylyn. Fortunately we got rain last night but no snow. The temperature did dip quite a bit. It’s cold and windy here in NJ today. I hope that we won’t get clobbered with snow and ice like we did last year. It was just too much. Have a wonderful weekend my friend!
I love your sign and the meaning behind it. Sweet nod to your dad!

Oh, I just LOVE your new sign! It’s gorgeous and the story behind it is so touching. I’ll keep your friend in mine if I want a sign. That’s a good price. We are feeling the frigid temps here too. We got to use our fireplace for the first time last night and it was so nice. Those pictures from CO are amazing! I can’t imagine having that view every day.
Love the sign, Shirley! Look forward to the rest of the changes in Graylyn’s room…which was such a delight to enjoy when we visited.
Those views of snow covered mountains are pretty spectacular!!

My Dad also sang that song to me and I also shed a tear whenever I sing it! It is a wonderful and precious memory! I think I may try my hand at this sign, I love it! It would be a constant reminder to me of my Dad. Thanks for sharing – we have something in common!
Clare
What a cute sign and I sang that to my kids all the time.
That view is unreal!!

Shirley, I know that sign is special to you for several reasons and how wonderful you can carry on your dad’s legacy with the sign and song! The scenery in CO is breathtaking, but I’d rather see it on your blog than in person. (Not a fan of cold weather!)

I love the sign. It looks great. However, most of all, I love that it has so much special meaning to it. That makes it extra delightful.

What a pretty sign…my oldest used to have the nosebleeds when he was little, as well. We have the cold in Western Pa but only a few flurries. Your niece’s pictures are gorgeous. Now that song’s going through my head ๐ I sing it with my grands sometime, too ๐
Deb @ Frugal Little Bungalow’s recent post…Ode to Fall
This is a song I sing to my grand daughter as well! She is only 2 1/2 and I bought her the book with this song and she loves it. I make it a point to read it to her when I’m visiting her.
Its already cold here on the Atlantic coast of Canada and yes everything is white this morning! Trying very hard to see the beauty of first snow….so far not so much! lol
That is an awesome sign! And I love the message. Stay warm, Shirley. It’s freezing in DC. Cheers

Hi Shirley, This sign is so sweet and such a lovely sentiment. What a pretty name your granddaughter has! I’m seriously in awe of your niece’s photos from Colorado! Wow!! I’ve never seen such views in my life. I’m glad she’s enjoying the beauty of her new home.
Hope you have a great weekend (and a warm one)!

What a special sign! I love the story behind it! The views are breathtaking! I have a cousin that lives in Colorado. Being a southern girl, I like my week of snow in the winter and then the spring like weather the following week. lol Stay warm this week!

Betsy@coastal-colors’s recent post…An Update On The “A” Side
There’s so many things I want to comment on I hope I don’t forget! Lol
First things first…I was in a ladies room today and noticed a young girl, maybe ten or so, with a bad nosebleed. It’s weird how they can come out of nowhere (and now I’m reading about it on your blog).
The sign is so pretty and what makes it extra special is having a version of your granddaughter’s name reflected in it. Her name is very pretty and unique!
As for that view, it’s amazing!!! We had some snow on Friday and it’s quite cold now but not unbearable. Seems to have come on fast and furious this year, and I’m looking forward to getting out of Dodge in December!
Enjoy your decorating!
Doreen@househoneys’s recent post…Set To Celebrate!
We’re set to break a record set back in 1909 of +7 on November 18. When we wake up tomorrow morning, it will be much like living in Siberia!!! I can’t believe this is actually still November!!! So, yes…we are most definitely experiencing effects of the stupid polar vortex!!!
I LOVE your sign!!! I wish I had a place in the house to put one. I’m afraid our walls will buckle if I put anything else on them! ๐ It’s so sweet that you were able to make such a wonderful play on words…and I love the name Graylyn!!!
I hope it warms up there. I need to be able to be jealous of somebody! ๐
