French Buffet Woodland Christmas Vignette

The first thing I did when returning from Florida for Thanksgiving . . .

~ ~ was to decorate my French buffet for Christmas.

I hope you all had a most wonderful Thanksgiving.

My family and I traveled to Florida . . . to my sister’s home . . . where my mom also lives.

We were there for a week and I was a bit out of cyber sync. . .

~ ~ as my sister lives in the country . . no cell phone coverage and slow internet.

So I took a bit of a blog break.

Trying to keep to my simple Christmas decor this year, I embellished the existing decor . .

~ ~ adding minimal accessories . . . well, as minimal as I get!

I am carrying the Woodland theme throughout the main floor . . .

Using my collection of owls . . .

~ ~ most people love the day after Thanksgiving to shop . . .

~ ~ ~ ~ I love to hit the speciality shops after Christmas for deals on Christmas decor.

Icy branches were placed in the French demijohn and owls perched on the branches.

Working on something next to the buffet . . . a bit of a sneak peek.

Always love to add birds to my vignettes for Christmas

The backdrop is a trophy plaque that I bought in France . . .

~ ~ I was told that they were agricultural/livestock awards.

Vintage French Grain Sack and pillow by Ann of On Sutton Place grace the chair in the foyer.

Oh you can see a bit more of my sneaky peeky . . .

Off to do more decorating . . . catching up from being away for a week in sunny Florida.

Happy Cyber Monday!!

    Shirley,
I love your woodsy theme you have going on. Your owls are so adorable. Love those iced branches too. Those are gorgeous. Glad you had a wonderful time with your family for Thanksgiving. Sometimes a little break from the computer is a good thing! Happy Week Ahead.

Shirley, I love your small touches of icy branches & little feathery owls – so cute. The woodland decor really appeals to me, and I use it in my sunroom. Your cyber break was probably a nice thing while on vacation with your family – it helps keep the focus where it ought to be. Happy Holidays!

I’m keeping things pretty simple here this year, too, Shirley. I’m just not “in the mood”, which I hate because I love Christmas time. I love your owls! They are so cute! I’ve looked at some recently but should probably do what you do and wait until they are on clearance.

I have been out of pocket, sort of too. Hope to catch up this week. My computer was acting up and it was time for a new one…but then it wasn’t quite right. Not bad enough to return, but not quite right, so it is at the local guru. For now I am back on the old lap top.

Your buffet is beautiful, Shirley. I should look around for my icy branches. Pretty sure they are not in storage yet.

You are way ahead of me decorating. I had company most of the week so tomorrow I hit the floor running.

Your house lends itself beautifully to the decor you’ve chosen as this year’s theme. Somehow I bet that’s not an accident. It’s fun seeing how it unfolds.

Uh, sorry to inform you, but “simple” and “Christmas” do NOT belong in the same sentence when it comes to your holiday decorating! Your Woodland theme is beautiful (your little owls are too cute), and I can’t wait to see more!

Minimal??!??!??!?! Do you have ANY clue what that word even means??!?!??!! 🙂 Girl, you know you, me, and a bunch of others out here in Blogland can’t even say that word with a straight face!!! What you have done here is the kind of thoughtful, inspired embellishment that only someone with a trained eye and real talent can pull off. So, so pretty!

I love those little white owls with that quizzical look on their faces! I have their brown cousins here on a tree this year.

This is a great tutorial in how to transition a look into the Christmas spirit! I’m glad you had a nice Thanksgiving and that you were able to get a nice little break from the computer…although not by your own design. We all need a little break every now and then. As long as you didn’t hear the theme song from “Deliverance” playing off in the distance, I think you were good to go! 🙂
