Housepitality Designs

it's all about the hospitable home

December 11, 2014 By Shirley

The Holiday Master Bedroom

In keeping with the more simplistic holiday decor, I decided to dress the master bedroom

with the Pottery Barn Winter Birds collection as I did last year.

I did use different pillows and accents as the room has definitely changed from last year.

I just love this bedding that can take you right through with winter months.

I added the beautiful monogrammed wreath pillow this year to the bed.

Last year, this pillow was on the media room sofa so it did the Pillow Shuffle dance.

The bed is in a different location in the room from last Christmas.

The sofa in the sitting area took its place.

Adding little touches of Christmas and Winter decor throughout the room . . .

~ ~ again, in keeping with my more simple Holiday decor.

With the exception of the Winter Birds pattern pillow, the pillows on the sofa were

on the bed previously . . . and danced to the tune of the Pillow Shuffle.

Placed a small poinsettia in a vintage crystal vase.

This baby Norfolk Pine was placed in the bottom portion of a covered container.

After Christmas, I want to try my hand in placing the Norfolk Pine into another container.

A container of water . . . I saw this technique somewhere and thought it looked great.

For Christmas, I usually have a tree in every room in the house.

This year, this is my tree for the master bedroom . . . a vase of faux birch branches

with miniature pine cone ornaments that sits next to my vintage hat boxes.

I am happy with the Christmas decor in the room this year . . . just enough.

My hubby can rest well at night without the feeling of being in a Winter Wonderland

and the possibility of an elf popping out from behind the dresser!

And to all a good night!!….

However, there may be some late nights for me as I scurry to finish up the holiday

decorating.

Love the touches of Christmas in your gorgeous bedroom, Shirley! That wreath “S” pillow is beautiful. All of your pretty pillows add such a warm and cozy feel to your room. I’m also loving the vintage black stack of hat boxes!

Shirley your bedroom is so perfect. Love your pillows and comforter. And I spotted a needlepoint pillow in your collection that I covet too! I have gone with a simpler look also…just did not want to drag all of the tubs up from the basement! Ha!

Simple elegance, Shirley. I am also trying to use items in my Christmas decorating the can endure a long winter’s night. I have the same plaid pillows you used as shams on my leather couch in our media room. Great minds think alike!
