I think the kitchen is pretty much where we spend most of our time during the Holidays or
any day for that matter.
So to bring a little cheer into this room is always a good thing!
Bringing a bit of Christmas cheer that can take me through well into January was my goal.
We all need a little Joy in the kitchen . . .
I am using this ironstone platter that sits on the stove hood as my base for seasonal decor.
For Christmas, I placed three small wreaths on the platter and used the stick on letters.
In keeping with my decorating philosophy this season of just embellishing existing decor,
I did just this with my kitchen tower of vintage bowls.
Embellished the vintage crocks from Mary Alice’s shop with holiday pretties.
More embellished vintage crocks on a bread board atop a vintage scale.
Love using cardinals in my decor as it is the State Bird of North Carolina.
They look so beautiful when frolicking in the snow.
One one side of the kitchen is where I love to decorate and showcase my collections.
Simple trees in ironstone pitchers with a touch of whimsy with the mitten ornaments.
The vintage bread box did not escape being embellished too!
And there is that “Joy” in the kitchen again!
And the vintage French scale got a pair of mittens too!
Just love to stage this space all year round!
Moving over to the opposite side of the kitchen . . .
I placed a little cedar tree in the ironstone tureen that I recently purchased
while antiquing in Pennsylvania with Mary Alice and Yvonne. Actually Mary Alice saw this
piece and knew that I would want it….yep, she was right!
Love the morning sun on the dining room walls that casts the pretty light from the crystals
that are hung in the windows.
With my decorating done, I can now move on to baking those cookies and addressing
the Christmas cards . . . shopping? . . . well, that will be on the schedule later.
Hope you are enjoying your week of great Holiday plans!

Great job, Shirley. Wishing you much joy as you create in the kitchen this holiday season.
I love all the little touches that you put in your kitchen. The little mitten ornaments will take you through all winter. PS – My cabinets and granite look a lot like yours 😉

Like you, we spend lots of time in and around the kitchen, so most of my decorating effort went into that area. Your home is so inviting with all its special touches.

Hey GF, I was there too:):) Just kidding. I love, LOVE how you have done the kitchen by just embellishing what you have. I also get how you love staging that area of your kitchen; I have a similiar area that I like to stage all year too:) That little cypress tree is adorable! I LOVE those vintage crocks! I am on a mission to get things for my kitchen that can stay there all year too. Then I can just embellish too:):) I am ALMOST done shopping. Enjoy the rest of the week. XO

You already have the perfect backdrop, and by adding little touches of Christmas all around it makes it that much better. I absolutely pinned that platter with the trio of wreaths! You will undoubtedly see something similar turn up on my site next year!
Looking lovely and cheerful in your kitchen. Stick on Letters…why didn’t I think of that?! Thanks for the idea.
And your ironstone pieces are wonderful too. I need to remember your sign…cookie baking, take out menus in drawer. Love it. We are almost there…with a few days to go. What will we all talk about after New Years Day? ha!

Everything looks so pretty! I bet you will be doing some baking with your granddaughter soon in that kitchen.
I love to incorporate Christmas decor into the kitchen. Your’re right we do spend alot of time in our kitchens and I like to see Christmas decorations. I didn’t put up my candy/cookie tree this year so I did add of few of my favorite things.
Love how your kitchen turned out – with all your pretty ironstone dishes, pitchers, etc. You did an outstanding job. Your home looks so beautiful all adorned in it’s Christmas decor.
Happy baking.
