Christmas Home Tour 2014

Welcome to my Home for the Holidays.

I decided that the Christmas decor for 2014 was going to be that of less glitz,

more woodland theme . . . to simplify.

Front Porch-Christmas 2014-Housepitality Designs

Double doors adorned with real wreaths of evergreen this year. . . .

No florals, no ribbon, just greenery and I love it.

This is a third door that I added to the porch!

As you enter my home, you will see one of my very favorite pieces of furniture.

Foyer-Christmas 2014-Housepitality Designs

My antique French Buffet purchased in Deauville, France

Icy branches placed in the demijohn and owls that landed from the tree that stands

beside the buffet.

Christmas Tree 2014-Housepitality Designs

There are two trees in the foyer/great room.

Great Room Christmas Tree-Housepitality Designs

Our main tree with treasured ornaments collected over many years and the unlit tree of

all things white that sits in an antique gathering basket.

In keeping with the Winter Woodland theme, the mantel in the great room was dressed

with a flocked garland and the owls found there way there too!

Great Room Mantel-Christmas 2014-Housepitality Designs

Silver glittered initials attached to the linen sockings and white flower ornaments

hang for a bit of whimsy.

I am happy with the way the Great Room evolved into a cozy space in which

my granddaughter and I enjoyed a Hallmark Holiday movie together the other day.

Love those “and they lived happily ever after” Hallmark movies!

The dining room is located next to the Great Room . . .

Dining Room-Christmas 2014-Housepitality Designs

Christmas 2014-Dining Room-Housepitality Designs

It is an informal area with a view of the back yard.

Adjacent to the dining room is one of my favorite rooms in the house . . .

~ ~ the Sunroom.

More details of the sunroom can be seen in my Holiday Sunroom post.

I enhanced my existing decor in the kitchen by adding greenery and several pieces of

Christmas decor that I have collected over the years.

Kitchen-Christmas 2014-Housepitality Designs

Trees fill the ironstone pitchers and plaid ornament mittens add color and whimsy.

Fluffed the French Scale with another pair of plaid mittens.

This one side of the kitchen is done . . . still fluffing the remainder of the kitchen

to be shown soon.

Nutcracker Tree-Housepitality Designs

Nutcrackers adorn the Media Room tree this year . . .

Fun is always the theme for this room.

And speaking of fun . . .

I love dressing my bedroom with holiday bedding . . .

~ ~ and this Pottery Barn Winter Birds bedding is both elegant and fun.

Master Bedroom Sitting Area-Christmas 2014-Housepitality Designs

A great place to sit and unwind from the hectic days of holiday prep.

And speaking of unwinding . . . this is where my guests can unwind.

Christmas Guest Room-Housepitality Designs

The guest room is ready . . .

I will have my reservation book ready and keep the light on!

I just placed a one piece of Christmas decor on my granddaughter’s room.

Pink Feather Tree/Vintage Cranberry Glass-Housepitality Designs

A pink feather tree in keeping with her wishes of adding more pink to the room.

I snapped some pictures of my front porch the other night.

Christmas 2014-Front Porch-Housepitality Desigs

Love the warm glow of the lanterns.

As we draw closer to the Holidays and the busy times that we all seem to go through . . .

I am trying to keep in mind that I need to treasure every moment of this happy season.

And this little one pretty much keeps it in perspective!

Christmas 2014-Housepitality Designs

There is never a dull moment when it comes to her and her “Pop” !!!

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

May the New Year be filled with much joy and peace in our hearts and in the world.

AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!!

However, until tomorrow . . . . when I will reveal the entire front porch . . .

  24. Gorgeous! Happy holidays to you. I enjoy your blog immensely!

  25. Ha! I, too, thought (quite erroneously, I might add!) that I would cut back on the glitz and go more woodland to “simplify.” I have since discovered it’s just as much work and time invested!!! But it was totally worth it.

For you, it all starts at the front door where anyone passing by or approaching your home would immediately get a feeling of welcome and joy. I love the ornaments strung at different heights from the portico ceiling! I’m also digging the bare wreaths. I went bare this year, too with just a little tangle of bells in the center. “Simplified.”

The joy and festivity continues all throughout your home with no detail left unattended. As I’ve said before, you just have an eye for what belongs where and how to make it all work beautifully together. Every room is a masterpiece with a personality all its own.

Thank you so much for spreading the joy of the season and your creative prowess!!! I hope that you and your whole family enjoy a Christmas filled with all of the best the season has to offer!

I love every thing you have done and your home is stunning! I must know what is the yellow paint color on your walls and the white trim if you have that? My home is currently yellow walls and white trim, but yours just has more of the wow/crisp color factor I’m looking for. thank you, janelle
