it's all about the hospitable home

A Crisp White Winter Vignette

I am slowly transitioning my decor from Christmas to the crisp white of winter.

When I remove Christmas decor from a surface, I cannot let that surface stay bare for long.

In fact, I have to gather items right away to create another vignette.

Coffee Table Winter Vignette-Housepitality Designs

I had a vision of a crisp white winter vignette with just a little pop of color.

Cyclamen in Ironstone Tureen-Housepitality Designs

What items can be more perfect to fit the bill than the crisp white of ironstone.

I had some ironstone that I bought last month still wrapped and waiting to be set free.

Some of these pieces landed on the table for the first coffee table vignette of the year.

Cyclamen in Ironstone Tureen-Housepitality Designs

I love Cyclamen . . . it seems like this is my go-to flower/plant in the winter months.

The white flowers of the Cyclamen and it’s beautiful leaves were perfect to place in the tureen.

Winter Vignette-Housepitality Designs

I chose the cool color of the blue to add to the vignette for that pop of color along with

the green from the flowers’ leaves and the mini Norfolk pine in the blue transferware pot.

Ironstone Sugar Bowl-Housepitality Designs

The sugar bowl with that beautiful lid is a new addition to my collection.

These same birds were used in my Christmas decor and will be hanging around

for a couple more months.

Winter Bird-Housepitality Designs

I love these birds, but I am noticing that this one looks as if he has an attitude . . .

I think he may be saying, “Are YOU looking at me?”

Ironstone PItchers-Housepitality Designs

For height, I added a tall pitcher and decided to group 2 additional pitchers

in this corner of the table.

Ironstone Pitchers-Housepitality Designs

I am trying to increase my collection of small ironstone pitchers so that I can display them

on an item that would be totally unexpected . . . an idea I got from Mary Alice.

Cyclamen in Ironstone Tureen-Housepitality Designs

I love the look of the Cyclamen in the ironstone tureen and think that I just may go back

to Trader Joe’s to buy more.

So here is my first coffee table vignette for 2015 and I am seeing a pattern of things to come.

To lighten up my interiors and continue to incorporate my love for color.

Have a great day and for most of you I can say, stay warm!!

That’s so pretty Shirley. I love cyclamen and mixing them with the pitchers was a great idea.

I am really not so great at vignettes and always like to study them when I see that key word. 🙂

I was just looking at cyclamen plants yesterday thinking I should pick one up to brighten things up at home – except Max would eat all the flowers and I’d be left with more green leaves. When do kittens finally grow up???!

    Beautiful vignette!

This is perfect for January. I love crisp white and clean candles smells in January such as fresh linen.

It’s perfect! It says warmth and winter all at the same time, and that little bird DOES have attitude! He makes me smile just looking at him. Can’t wait to see your next post.

Love the coffee table vignette! I like the cyclamen in the tureen- great look! My landscape is so white outside I just can’t go with too much white indoors- I need color! The white does make other things pop like your chair in the background! The books like a couple of good reads!

Beautiful Shirley! That’s the only thing I really hate that when you take the Christmas décor down, the house looks so bare, I feel like everything is just blah. I love the cyclamen in the pots. It gives you nice pop in the ironstone.

Wintry white and blue with touches of winter green have combined perfectly in your latest vignette. Cyclamen is the perfect plant for the season.

Very pretty winter vignette. I usually go with white, too but looking out the window at all the snow on the ground, I put the white flowers back and decided to use lavender this winter!

Shirley, you have created a beautiful vignette, one that tells a story. White ironstone is beyond perfect, and the cyclamen adds hope and warmth during the cold (3 degrees here tonight, with flurries)winter. That bird _does_ have an attitude!

Well, you need to come over to my house, Shirley, because I have one spot that I just can’t figure out for the life of me! : ) I love your little birds. I was going to bring out my nests and some ceramic birds, but thought that might be too “Spring” like. Maybe I should just have gone with my initial instinct!

Your vignette looks amazing – love all the white winter. The house looks so bare with all the decorations down. I do have a hunky young man coming tomorrow to put all my treasure away until
next Christmas. Then I can think of what to do. I did leave up some pine garland so it does look a little wintry on my hutch and secretary.
We had 87 yesterday and now today is was cooler and is going down to the high 60’s. Crazy weather – stay warm.
