Creating a Kitchen Vignette With New Ironstone Finds

We talked about the thrill of the hunt previously.

The thrill of seeing the item, enjoying it’s beauty, it’s character, it’s flaws.

Well I experienced another thrill of the hunt this week. Where was the hunt?

At a large antique mall in Strasburg, Virginia.

Ironstone Vignette-Housepitality Designs

Mary Alice took me to this wonderful antique mall that was about an hour away from her home.

This was actually a short trip for us, when we are used to traveling up to 2 1/2 hours to reach

our destination.

Antique Mall-Housepitality Designs

Here is one of the pretty booths of the antique mall in Strasburg.

There were so many amazing quilts in this mall.

Ironstone Tureen-Housepitality Designs

I purchased two items in that mall and this is one of them.

She’s a beauty that measures about 10 inches tall.

Ironstone Tureen Lid-Housepitality Designs

The tag described the tureen as having a rope design.

Ironstone sugar bowl-Housepitaity Designs

This is a fairly new sugar bowl that I purchased from Mary Alice’s shop.

I love the wheat pattern.

Ironstone Sugar Bowl Topiary-Housepitality Designs

Ironstone Sugar Bowl-Housepitality Designs

I have had these topiaries that I purchased from HomeGoods years ago and I decided to lose the

containers they were in and place the topiaries in the ironstone sugar bowls.

Antique French Ironstone Broth Warmer-Housepitality Designs

I gathered a few more pieces of ironstone to create the new kitchen vignette such as this

antique French ironstone stockpot in which I was told was centuries old. I bought this

piece when I was in France.

Ironstone sugar bowl-Housepitality Designs

An ironstone creamer that I purchased on a trip last month while antiquing with Mary Alice

and Yvonne (StoneGable).

Ironstone Mortar and pestle-Housepitality Designs

Brought my ironstone mortar and pestle from the great room into the kitchen.

I left the pretty grain sack star made Ann (On Sutton Place) in it for added texture and color.

Vintage Ironstone Scale-Housepitality Designs

Ironstone Kitchen Vignette-Housepitality Designs

My vintage scale . . . another France trip purchase.

Ironstone Kitchen Vignette-Housepitality Designs

The vintage breadbox remained on the counter.

Vintage monogrammed tea towel-Housepitality Designs

I added a vintage monogrammed tea towel that was a birthday gift from a friend.

Love my new kitchen vignette. I think it will stay like this for a while . . . or not.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! . . . and for most of you, enjoy your the first 3-day weekend

of the year!

Oh I must go antique thrifting. I love that soup tureen and all your other wee vignettes.
FYI our targets up here in Canada are all closing their doors. So sad to see them go.

I just found your blog last week and started subscribing. Strasburg, Va is my home town. I have not explored the Emporium for years. I intend to do so every visit but never follow through. Now I see what I have missed!

    Great finds!

    Shirley,
You really scored big on the beautiful ironstone tureen! I found some great ironstone pieces last year at the Antique marketplace in Lemoyne, PA. If you haven’t been there you should go…its right off I-81 near Harrisburg.

I believe I have been in the same antique mall in Strasburg once or twice where you found the tureen. I have a friend that lives nearby in Edinburg, VA and we always go out antiquing when I visit.

I love this whole vignette!! YOur ironstone pieces are beautiful, love that pot from France and LOVE the scale. I have been looking for one that I can afford:) Great idea to take the topiaries out of their previous containers. Love your tray too. My Grandmother had several of these and I have no idea where they might have gone. SO many things just disappeared when my Mom moved out of that house….sad.

That’s really a pretty tureen…but what I love is that bread board that you have it sitting on! My grandmother had one of those…a long time ago. At any rate, it’s gorgeous! You seem to have great luck finding so many! Enjoy your weekend! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The entire vignette is so pretty! How could it not be when it has some of my favorite things.

I’m wondering if this mall was one that I saw advertised off of 95 as we were driving south? If so, maybe it’s worth a stop on the way home.
