Do you remember the Macarena? . . . Well, I was doing the Furniture Shuffle to the tune of the Macarena!
OK . . . do you now have that song in your head . . . waving your arms and shaking your hips?
My sister Chrissy is a great dancer and dances the Macarena very well. Happy Birthday Chrissy! 🙂
But I must say that I can outdo her on the Furniture Shuffle! 🙂
Well, I was raising my arms and shaking my hips as I carried furniture across the room . . . Hey Macarena!!
If you remember a little bit ago, I polled my readers as to what look they preferred in this space.
Overwhelmingly, you preferred what I preferred, the bench. Hubby had a vote too. He always has a vote!
A monogrammed French Grain Sack, a cross-stitched pillow from Pottery Barn, and a needlepoint
Valentine’s pillow adorn the antique bench that was originally in the dining room.
Gosh, I cannot tell you how many years I have had that Valentine’s pillow. Just one of a few
Valentine’s Day themed items that I have.
When this bench was in the dining room, I had noticed after a while the split oak was starting to fade
a bit. The dining room gets a lot of sun in the early morning. So moving this bench was a good thing.
When I purchased this bench at the Country Living Fair a couple of years ago, the vendor told me (if my
memory serves me right) that it came from a great home in the Hamptons. There was another one, a pair of
these, but I only needed one. The other one sold right after I bought this one.
Did you wonder where the black painted planter went? . . . . just around the corner for now.
It coordinates so nicely with the gold and black painted mirror … both pieces were purchased many years
ago from The Bombay Company . . . Bombay Company, please come back!
A reader commented that she would be concerned about a small child standing on the bench thus falling down
the stairwell . . . a very legitimate concern; however, I rarely have small children in the house,
and when that may happen, I would certainly move the bench for safety sake.
In the meantime, I am very happy with the bench in this area . . . as I feel it is a good fit for the room.
We enjoy this room as it is a very casual area filled with the things that we love!
So, do you have that song out of your head yet? Have a great weekend, doing a dance that you love!
