it's all about the hospitable home

Ikea Hack Ritva Drapes

Ikea Ritva drapes hang in the guest room flanking the french doors.

I love the texture of the Ikea Ritva drape. Mine are white and they needed a little punch of color.

Well, if you call black and white a punch of color! ๐Ÿ™‚

I purchased some fabric from the On-Line Fabric Store and had my friend Linda add the fabric

as trim.

Guest Room-Housepitality Designs

The Ikea Ritva drapes were purchased a couple of years ago, I believe on sale for $24.99/pair.

They are such versatile drapes. But you know me, I tend to want to embellish things so I decided

a small width of fabric on the two panels on each side of the french doors would be just the thing.

I chose the black and white check as I have many items in this room that are black,

including the black wrought iron bed and the recently purchased mirrored back curio from Pottery Barn.

This room gets lots of wonderful light . . . you can see the sun streaming through the drapes,

giving it a yellow glow.

Guest Room Curio Cabinet-Housepitality Designs

I filled the mirrored backed curio cabinet that I purchased at Pottery Barn on clearance.

Filling it with items in the color wave of the room . . . white, blue, green, and black.

I like to repeat patterns in the room when I can, so it was an easy decision to cover the chair with the

same fabric as the trim on the drapes.

Just love the new look of the drapes. I have a few more things to do with the room and it will be

ready for a complete reveal soon!

Have a great day and hope you had a wonderful weekend. It was glorious here on the weekend and looking

forward to warmer temperatures this week.

Such a sharp look, especially together with the little curio your husband selected, as well as the bed frame and chandy. I love black accents.

I love the added black check trim to the curtains. Good idea adding it to the chair cushion, too. It all goes so well together in the room.

I really like the trim on the drapes and the chair covered in the same fabric. It really ties everything together.
So glad that your temperature is warming up.
My cousin arrived yesterday and he loved the warm weather. As you know VA had a terrible winter and they still have lots of snow on the ground.
Have a great warm Spring week.

I love the trim you added to the curtains and the chair cushion too, it adds such a great pop of pattern to the room. I have been working on adding some blue and white accents to my porch and was second guessing myself because I was not sure it was working with my black painted table and black chair cushions. After seeing how beautifully you have made the two work together you have really inspired me and made me feel more confident about my choices. Now I am excited to shop for some more porch decor to finally pull that space together. Oh and I love the PB curio, what a wonderful find I need to go shopping with you, you always find the most beautiful things!

The trim on the white drapes adds just the right punch(of not color). I thought adding black to blue would be a challenge but it looks like you have pulled it off girlfriend!
