How To Dress Up A Slipcover

A little while a ago Decor Steals’ Steal of the Day was a chair seat slipcover.

It was love at first sight, purchased it right away,

and I knew exactly then what I wanted to do with it.

I placed it on the chair; however, me being me, decided to embellish it a bit.

I looked to see what I had on hand and came up with a wired ribbon in a cheetah pattern.

I folded the wire ribbon length-wise and wrapped it around the bottom edge of the ruffle.

I then attached the ribbon by using a large basting stitch for easy removal when I decide

to change out the ribbon . . . which I am sure I will at some point!

Love the way it turned out . . . adding a little fun to the slipcover.

Chair Slipcover/Foyer-Housepitality Designs

This chair is in the foyer and I usually have a seasonal pillow on it.

When not having a seasonal pillow, I like to use the back side of a pillow that says,

“We Gather Together” . . . a pillow made by Ann of On Sutton Place.

The backs of her pillows are always beautiful and I tend to use both sides!

The chair will be sporting this St. Patrick’s Day pillow for now.

I love embellishing items, within reason and taste that is, do you?

Have a wonderful weekend . . . Rain predicted for Saturday, but Sunday will be glorious!

Shirley, that looks terrific! I saw those slipcovers and wondered how they’d look in person. Love the ribbon you put on it.

That looks great, Shirley! I love it! I do tend to do that, too. what a great idea to make the stitch large enough that you can easily remove the ribbon when you want to try something new. Nice cover, too.

Great idea Shirley! I’ve noticed some cute denim ribbons at Michaels last week that would look cute and casual. Possibilities are endless. In the past I’ve sewn tasseled trims to the edge of plain lampshades to snazz them up a bit.

What a great idea to make the stitching so the ribbon can be removed on your slipcover! I love that you trimmed the slipcover and it looks fantastic with your vignette. Your shamrock pillow is a perfect St. Patrick’s Day addition. I love needlepoint pillows! Your entrance is so welcoming! Have a wonderful weekend!

    Hi Shirley,

I ordered those slip covers as well. Mine came yesterday. I have been all around the house trying them on different chairs. I love them and wish I had ordered 4, but I only ordered 2. They are so well made! Your idea is sooo cute!!! I would have never thought of that! We are so alike in our taste, I think that is why I love your blog!

    Blessings

I love the ribbon on the chair cover, it give a pop of color and looks really good. Nice arrangement.
Oh what we wouldn’t give for rain around here. The weather is going to be in the high 90’s all weekend long until next Wednesday, so I won’t be going out much as it bothers my COPD. Have a great sunny Sunday.
