it's all about the hospitable home

Enhancing the Great Room with More Spring

Well, that did not last long . . .

I knew Peter and his friends would be a bit antsy staying in one place and they have moved on

to another area in which you will see soon. In the meantime, since the table looked a bit

empty after their departure, I created another Spring vignette.

Spring enhancements to the room are happening every day.

Spring Vignette-Housepitalty Designs

I gathered items that I already had on hand and proceeded to create my touch of spring

on the table.

Spring Vignette-Housepitality Designs

I have had the preserved boxwood topiary for a couple of years now and it has been in the

original container and I thought it was time for a change and I placed it in a

vintage McCoy flower pot.

Spring Vignette-Housepitality Designs

The lantern is part of a set of two . . . the larger one is in one of the guest bathrooms and

I felt the smaller one would be a great addition to the table.

Spring Vignette-Housepitality Designs

The ribbon, branches of fern and bird tag was added to the lantern . . . an idea that I got

from the lovely Ann from On Sutton Place.

The bird nest was inside the lantern previously, so I kept it the way it was.

Spring Vignette-Housepitality Designs

I added a third bird nest and placed some vintage seed packets that I bought in San Antonio

many years ago, Huth Seeds.

Can’t have enough bird nests!

Bird's Nest-Housepitality Designs

As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, what better than to have a pot of shamrocks!

Spring Vignette-Housepitality Designs

The flower pot is also vintage McCoy, the same as the one that the boxwood topiary is planted in.

It was great to have found a smaller version of the large McCoy flower pot. My favorites.

Spring Vignette-Housepitality Designs

I just love changing out my table vignettes for a fresh new look.

We seemed to have skipped Winter and Spring and went right into SUMMER. So I am a little confused how to decorate.

Your vignette looks wonderful and I like how you incorporated all the lanterns and birds nest together.

Have fun antiquing with your friend.
