Once upon a time there was an antique blanket chest
that was at the foot of the iron bed in the guest room.
You can see it here when I revealed the guest room makeover.
That blanket chest was relocated to the sunroom to add more texture and warmth seen here.
Well, that left a void at the foot of the bed in the guest room.
So what is one to do? Well, you visit Mary Alice’s shop!
Just to give you a peek as to what it looked like
before the antique blanket chest was relocated:
The blanket chest now in the sunroom:
I love it here in the sunroom
adding warmth and a different element of texture
and successfully anchoring the room.
I am loving the chippy vintage bench in the guest room.
Now, do you notice anything under the bench?
No, it’s not the basket.
It is the wonderful iron scrolled brackets.
Beside the form of the bench, the brackets are what sold me.
This bench just added the perfect juxtaposition
of the French Country hutch across from the bench
and the somewhat formality of the chinoiserie fabric of the bedding.
And the contrast of the wood and iron.
Now there is bench for my guests to sit or place a piece of luggage on.
I am sure I will be doing some tweaking of the area below the bench.
I was just very anxious to share this bench today!
Do you love to add a bit of chippiness to your decor of
something that was certainly well loved?
Have a great day!

I noticed the iron corbels right away, Shirley! Really a nice touch to the prim look!
Oh my…Bench Love Shirley! I’m swooning over the chippiness and wonderful brackets! It’s beautiful at the foot of your bed but would oh so sweet on the porch of my Potting Shed π
Love the new bench … *chippiness* perfection and a wonderful addition to your guest suite, which, I’m surprised is every empty as I’m sure lots of friends and family want to retreat to such an inviting space! Love how you dressed it, as well … great idea adding the basket below … so attentive to details!
I LOVE it! Just perfect. Thank goodness for shopping at MA’s.
Oh yes…you win…it looks perfect with your iron bed!! Shows off so much better there than in my guest room. π

Love the bench! It’s a perfect fit for the room. π
Oh my what a perfect bench for such a beautiful room!
Yes I agree those brackets set it off.
What stood out was your flow blue pitcher. I have the mate but mine is a coffee pot.
So gorgeous!!!! Love that bench!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the light and airy look of the bench as compared to the heaviness of the blanket chest in that room. Good choice.
The bench looks terrific there…but then, I really liked the chest too! How do you ever decide? π
What a lovely and inviting room, Shirley! Your bench is fantastic! I love the iron corbels too! The blanket chest is a great accent for your sunroom! You have a special gift for creating warm and welcoming spaces!
OH!!! I LOVE IT!! That is perfect right there too!! The brackets are the finshing touch, unexpected but perfect! And you know I adore that bedding!!!! Have a great day!
Love, love, love the French style bench, Shirley! It looks so good there as does the blanket chest in the sunroom! Wish I lived near Mary Alice’s shop!
I like your new “old” bench! I think it looks better than the blanket chest at the foot of the bed. I love old benches. There are so many ways you can use them.
What a fabulous find….I love those brackets!!!! The perfect addition to the guest bedroom……..

LOVE this bench. Not too big. Hmmm, an idea for our new bedroom. Have to see if the hubby can work this out. Too bad I can’t visit Mary Alices shop. I’m sure that was one of a kind
Cindy
What a perfect touch, I would say your guest room is complete now π
Love it, Shirley! The iron brackets are so cool – and very unusual. Is this the room where I can stay when I eventually visit? I promise to not walk off with your bench π
PS – Congrats on your new myrtle topiary.
I love the duvet! I have several tole trays that I would like to hang like you have done. Did you use special hangers?
I also loved the duvet. I was going to ask about the trays as well. I love how they pop on the pretty blue walls.
Wow, I just love this room. The bench is just perfect in that spot. I love the Asian bed comforter and the pretty blue pitcher that matches it perfectly and the flowers inside the pitcher. Just beautiful, Shirley.
I like the bench so much better at the foot of the bed. The antique chest looks better in the Sunroom. Your guest bedroom is perfect.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend.
Mary
Shirley you did it again! The brackets on the bench look amazing, and the quilt is perfect. Of course to touched my heart with the blue and white theme. It’s gorgeous! Jo
I like the change! Love the chippyness in that room:) However, my dark chocolates and champagne are missing:D lol!
Ohhhhhh Shirley I am swooning over the bench and those brackets really put that piece over the top in cuteness. I am so coming to stay in your pretty guest room and then I am bringing my biggest suit case to pack that bench to take with me lol! Just love that bench. So awesome.
Kris
Love the details in this room.
That bench is wonderful. I have a similar one that I got at my grandfather’s estate sale after he died. Also, I also love where you moved the trunk.
Love that bench in this room. It looks very good with that iron bed and your bed dressings. That chest also looks good in your sunroom giving the room contrast.
oh i do love the bench in this room but I am sure I will love it in the next place that it will live too! i have never seen iron brackets on a bench like that before, love.
It’s PERFECT Shirley….I love it and you know I love all that chippiness!!
The brackets are definitely something you don’t see that often on benches, and I can totally understand why they sold you. Your guests must love visiting!
You are right–the brackets make the bench. I have a set like that and I’ve used them in my laundry room doorway…but now I might have to add them to a piece of furniture just for fun! Your new bench looks great!
I like the change… It gave the room a fresh new look…
Totally love the bench Shirley!!
Very lovely and inviting room. I love it.
