A Sunday Drive and the 2015 Southern Living Idea House Part One

I love Sunday drives taking the road less traveled.

To take roads that we have not taken before

the ones that are sure to have lots of beautiful scenery.

Yesterday, my hubby (even though he was still a bit under the weather) insisted that

we take a drive. To someplace that he knew I wanted to go.

A place where the event would be going on for some time;

however, he knows me well and how anxious I get about these sort of things.

So we took a 3 hour drive to see the Southern Living Idea House in Charlottesville, VA.

A drive with such bucolic scenes as this:

Bundoran Farm-Housepitality Designs

This barn is located in an area called Bundoran Farms in Charlottesvile, Virginia.

Where the 2015 Southern Living Idea House is located.

Southern Living Idea House 2015

Welcome to the 2015 Southern Idea House!

As we drove up I gasped . . . as this home’s exterior is on my bucket list

for my downsized home . . . but not the 4500 square feet interiors!

As we walked up to the house and clearly focused on this gorgeous entry

and that beautiful copper lantern, we thought….hmmmm…..

how can we put a long front porch on this house?

So many beautiful rooms both indoors and out designed by the fabulous Bunny Williams.

I discovered that Bunny grew up in this area of Charlottesville.

The house is designed to have spectacular views from every room.

Hope you had a great weekend

and my thanks to many of you who sent us beautiful anniversary wishes!

Wow, three hours?? He deserves many stars for that!! Can’t wait to see more. I love the exterior, too, but yes that certainly isn’t downsizing. πŸ™‚

Looking forward to your pictures of the idea house, which brings fond memories of another idea house that we toured together! I know we won’t make this one, so it will be fun to see thru your eyes and great photography!

Lovely! This is one of my favorite parts of the world! I’ve long had a home picked out to own that decades ago was barely visible from I-64 just as you came near Charlottesville from the east. I wonder if it’s still there?

We replaced the tiny “stoop” of a porch on our Humble Home with a lovely large porch. Why? We’re from the South so we come from porches!

    Wishing your sweetie good health!

    Cheers!

Sorry that I missed your anniversary, so Happy Belated Anniversary and may you and your honey have many more years together. You compliment each other.

What a beautiful home and I can hardly wait to see more. The views remind me of the country side where my family lives and I get so homesick to go home. Hopefully in the Fall, as it is to HOT for me now.
