When I visited the 2015 Southern Living Idea House, I was trying to envision
if we could actually live on the first floor, as we yearn to downsize.
With a few tweaks here and there, it is definitely doable!
Especially the master bedroom suite. While it is smaller than ours now,
the layout and access to the outdoor spaces is really nice.
Just love the soft blues and browns in this room.
Notice the occasional table next to the chair. It is fabulous! It is by Bunny Willams Home.
To the left of the mantel is the french door that leads out to an intimate porch.
I love the fireplace in the room
I would definitely opt out for the space of a traditional dresser for this fireplace, would you?
The closet in the master is very large and would accommodate lots of clothes!
The chairs are also from the Bunny Williams Home Collection. (bunnywilliamshome.com)
Every room in the house had a beautiful view.
This hallway or loggia is off the end of the foyer which leads to the master bedroom suite.
To the left of the chair is a door that leads to the patio that is between two screened porches.
Great reflection of a painting in the mirror that is hanging in the loggia/hallway.
Off the loggia of the master bedroom suite are the closet and the master bath.
A fabulous closet and I love that the mirror reflects the beautiful painting in the bathroom.
Every mirror should have a beautiful reflection . . . even if it is just you! 🙂
The free standing tub is situated between the two vanities.
A beautiful table holds all many bath necessities. Table by bunnywilliamshome.com
The bath accessories are from the Southern Living collection sold at Dillards.
And since we are on a bit of a bathroom tour, here is the powder room
that is right by the door leading to the breezeway that connects the garage to the house.
A simple, yet elegant powder room.
Across from the powder room is the mud room area.
Now to complete the first floor tour, I shall take you for a tour of the living room.
It’s a beauty!
The furnishings and accessories are from many different vendors,
so if you have a question on any item in this room, leave me a comment.
This room is accessorized beautifully as Bunny Williams would naturally do.
As I have stated previously, there are magnificent views of the property from every room.
I shall leave you today with this spectacular view that I could look at all day.
Have a great day, enjoying your view!

That master and bath are already larger than what we have and I want smaller. The decor in the master and living room are not my fave.
I love the views also and for me I would have to add a few reds somewhere.I like how the accessories are placed even on the vanity in the powder room.Thank you for a beautiful tour.
Thank you for the beautiful pictures!
hmmm. I am sure about this years house. definitely not my favorite.
In that last pic…I imagine a thick, plush cushion with pillows on the window seat so I could gaze at that view! 😉
Love all the fresh fabrics and eclectic art work! Thanks for sharing, Shirley ~ now I need to catch up on the other posts!

Super pictures. I’m not a fan of a fireplace in the bedroom. We would never use it although it is pretty

OMGoodness, I would kill for that master bath and closet!!! That is the only thing I DISlike about this house; the closet space is horrible!!! I would also love a mud room area. I love this house but doubt we could afford it. I could move right in!! Have to run, will write more later….
Beautiful!!! I would love to have a fireplace in our bedroom…..and that bathroom is TDF!!!!!!
Oh to dream…..

I’m not going to lie, this year’s house isn’t my favorite; however, I could probably force myself to live in that master suite! 🙂
I would love a fireplace in the master bedroom! This is a really beautiful, but comfortable feeling home.
It is lovely. Where is the house this year?
So much beauty in this house!! My eye went straight to the gorgeous large botanicals in the master bedroom.

I think the house is to be a relaxed style house, however I think they could have improved on the décor and still be relaxed. I like eclectic but with more punch……let’s just say it needs your decorating touch to look great!!!!!! I love the traditional classic look but not the very modern. I don’t like the ceiling in the living room painted continuous white, needed a natural feel but, that is why we have different style homes for different taste….
I do really like the over-all look of the home, and some of the colors are beautiful together. But…hehehe…I think many agree that there’s a certain someone (I won’t mention any names of course) who would have made this house the bomb! (hint;) I am certainly thrilled that you took the the time to share with all of us this home! As I would not have seen it otherwise!!! Thank you, Shirley:D
Thank you for sharing. I love the two matching chairs by the fireplace and the closet. Although not my style of decorating I enjoy seeing how others choose to decorate. I can pick out something from most photos that I would like so I could them in different settings.
Please share the brand and color of your livingroom. I love mine but it’s pretty dark and I need a lift. Thanking you in advance.
So enjoy your blog. I’m not a blogger but sure enjoy the benefits of having access to the ones I love
Somehow I lost you and thought you must be taking a blogging break, but you are found. A showcase house is always source for great ideas. Oh, how’s the softball?
Very sweet next part of the tour. I would love a fireplace in my master bedroom how romantic.
Happy New Week.

Shirley, thank you so much for your beautiful photos and for the tour! I really liked the chairs in the MBR and the occasional table is so unique (think I could find a place for it)!! I love botanicals and these are gorgeous!
