it's all about the hospitable home

A Summer Tablescape of Lemons and Daisies

Rather than setting the table with red, white and blue decor this summer,

I chose to go citrus, that sunny yellow of lemons.

When I decorated my sunroom with lemons and limes,

I thought I would carry that theme to the dining room table.

I started out with a vintage cake plate and inverted it.

The base of the cake plate is a cut “pineapplesque” design and it is hollow,

so you are able to fill it with water and place flowers in it like a vase!

The surface of the cake plate is now acting as a base for the lemons and daisies.

I love lemons and daisies together. They say, Fun!

Since the cake plate has a pineapple design, I thought I would add the pineapple embroidered

napkins to the place setting. Being that this is a very casual tablescape,

I tucked the silverware into the napkin, for that casual feel.

I used a pair of some of my favorite non-crystal pineapple candlesticks

to add to the tablescape that gave it more of a casual feel.

The place card holder was purchased in sets of 4 many years ago from Tuesday Morning.

I purchased them to use for my son’s wedding that had a garden theme.

These place cards held the table numbers.

Hi Shirley! Aren’t you the most clever one? I love this idea and how pretty your centerpiece is! Who would have thought a cake stand could prettier all dressed up like this! Those pineapple candle holders are so pretty too! Nobody does it better, sweet friend! Hope you had a great 4th.

Shirley, turning that cake plate upside down is just perfect! I absolutely love how you styled it. I have several antique cut glass cake plates that belonged to my sweet mother in law {Evelyn} and I rarely use them. But now, I’m looking at them in a whole new way! Great idea!

Love the lemons and daisy theme. I really loved the pineapple addage, especially the pineapple embroidered napkins. Where did you find those. I will have to look out for garden inspired items like your placecard holders for my garden club. We always do tablescapes. Of course, will have to remember the inverted cake plate idea. Excellent….keep up the good work.
