Housepitality Designs

it's all about the hospitable home

Adding More Color

I recently took away my fruit themed canisters that I have had for years in the kitchen

and added more ironstone to the countertop space.

However, it looked like a sea of white. Now I do love white decor,

but I am a color gal and love to mix it up.

Ironstone tureen/kitchen-Housepitality Designs

This corner of the countertop originally had the ironstone tureen with the plant

and had an ironstone creamer and an apothecary jar that I found in France.

All white with the exception of the colorful plant.

I decided to add more texture and color to this little corner starting with a gift

that Kris (Junk Chic Cottage) gave me along with a few more things

Kris' Gifts-Housepitality Designs

She presented me with this large gift bag filled with these goodies when she came to visit me.

And to think that she scarified her luggage space for this!…What a sweetheart!

One of the beautiful things she gave me was a wonderful bread board.

I decided that it was perfect to place in front of the tureen with things that I use the most.

Kitchen Vignette-Housepitality Designs

The salt cellar contains course grain Kosher salt blended with Herbs de Provence.

The apothecary jar holds a variety of tea bags.

I also had a vintage ironstone plate as a base for my favorite drink.

Since I have copper in my kitchen, I grabbed a copper berry basket and tried this:

I love it . . . but then again, things always change around here.

So, are you one that loves to mix up color with neutral tones,

or do you prefer a palette of strictly white and neutrals.

I will be on my way to Haven tomorrow and so looking forward to having fun (and learning too)

with my fellow bloggers and friends!

Have a great day in this wonderful world of the beautiful colors that surround us.

Shirley, I love the little nook with the breadboard! Kris is a sweetheart for sure. I recently picked up a couple of old breadboards and want to bring them into my kitchen, but first I need to work them over a bit. lol! Yes, things are always changing at both our homes, but boy isn’t it fun?
