It took me a while and after careful consideration
weighing the fact that this table was not a family heirloom or an expensive piece of furniture,
actually a very inexpensive piece from Bombay Company many years ago . . .
I decided to take the plunge and paint it.
This accent table is in the master bedroom sitting area. It originally had the typical
Bombay dark wood stain. I painted it with Annie Sloan Pure White and distressed it.
Here is what it looked like before: (table on the left)
I knew as soon as I started painting it, that I would love it. No regrets.
I left the original finish on the drawer and slide out tray.
Now I will move on to paint the table on the other side of the sofa.
When I was placing the candle holder back on the table replacing it with a candle
rather than a faux boxwood ball, I noticed it was a bit stark. It needed texture.
So I got out my bag of moss and my glue gun and I covered the battery operated candle,
with the moss. Now I would not recommend using a real candle if you plan on lighting it! ๐
Love the way it turned out.
Easy peasy!
I think I will be trying some other finishes on my battery operated candles.
This table received 2 little makeovers of paint and moss!
I am currently attending the Haven Conference for bloggers
having a wonderful time . . . and you can follow me and my great moments on Instagram HERE!

Your table looks wonderful! I love the new white finish; what a great idea. Your sheet moss covered candle is such a clever idea- I have to copy this one. I know you’re having a fantastic time at Haven! It’s such a fun place to meet fellow bloggers and get great ideas. Post lots of pictures!
Absolutely gorgeous! Love the moss candle and white paint always makes the scrollwork/details on wood stand out. Perfection!!
The finish on the table looks great! I also like your brass & glass table, BTW. Thanks for the great idea about the moss candle. I really like it!
Best,
Michelle from simplysantabarbara.blogspot.com
P.S. I would like to invite you to pop over to my blog for a visit!
I like the new look of the Bombay table. Have fun at the conference.
Love the table and you’ve inspired me to do a moss candle, Shirley.
I have that same Bombay table that you have, ( the one you haven’t painted yet) and I too painted mine with AS paint and I love it! I used a combination of orchre and country grey I think. It has been painted for about 5 years and is still holding up beautifully. I was worried about it as a night stand getting constant use. I love the lines of the Bombay furniture but the finish, not so much anymore so painting it was the perfect solution!
The table turned out great! Really like that you left the contrasting dark pieces! And I love the moss candle! Great idea, I may have to “borrow” that one! Just so you know, I’m secretly coveting that pretty brass table, oh my! ๐ Have a great weekend at Haven! ~Rhonda
Love your Bombay table with the new paint finish!!!! I would have never thought to use moss to cover a candle….very clever!!!
Have a great weekend!!!!

Have fun at Haven Conference. Love the table that you painted, it turned out great. Sorry I haven’t been following lately. Time seems to pass me by so quickly, especially doing two posts. They take a lot of my time.
Enjoy time with your blogging friends.

It totally changed the look. Good way to decorate; otherwise the attic would be full… Love the moss idea…
LOVE the table painted!!!
I love your transformation with ASCP of your Bombay table Shirley! I miss them being around! Your mossy candle is such a fun touch too ๐
I will confess that even though they make the most hideous mess, I am addicted to those sheets of green moss! The candle looks great, as does the table. Picking up the paint brush is always the hardest step! So good to see you at Haven! XOXO, Christy
Very clever on that moss candle, Shirley. And what a transformation on the table. Luvvvvv it! xo
Shirley, I love the way your table turned out! And, I love the moss covered candle. I so need to pick up some sheets of moss. LOL. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
